G'day

Can anyone recommend the best value SIM cards for a month long visit to the UK?

I will need a phone SIM for calls & txt and a data SIM for my Ipad Air.

I don't really need more than £20 for the phone or £40 for the Ipad so a total spend of about £60 (4G data access is more important than phone calls)

Any suggestions

Cheers

I recommend Giffgaff. I'm no longer a customer so I'll wait for another member to post their referral link.

See

http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/United_Kingdom

and also

http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/European_Union

if you are planning on travelling throughout Europe.

EE has the most comprehensive 4G coverage as they commenced their rollout earlier than the rest. You can data only SIMs with 6GB of 4G data for 90 days for £17.56 from Amazon, which you could get delivered to an Amazon locker or Doddle shop

http://www.amazon.co.uk/6GB-Pay-Mobile-Broadband-Combi-White/dp/B00FSDAMT8

From the above link, in an EE store it costs £20 for 4GB, or £30 for 10GB.

EE is possibly also the best for coverage. ???? It has never let me down anyhow.

If you are stuck, on arrival, Argos, the high street store is good for stuff like that if you are wanting to avoid being hard-sold stuff by phone retailers. Tons of shops across the UK high streets http://argos.co.uk - online pre order / reserve stuff before collection available.

Certainly gotta be cheaper than my trip to Australia, the data for a 3 week visit was A$99 and it ran out :o

UK visitors to Australia can take advantage of the Three "Feel at Home" scheme so you can use data at the same rates as in the UK using the same Three SIM card.

^ As true as that is, is will be of little use to the Australian visitor coming to the UK.

That's OK for smartphones and has the cheapest standard pay as you go call and text rates but you aren't allowed to tether or put the SIM card in a tablet, dongle or mobile router. Three have separate mobile broadband tariffs for tablets.

Any reason why you recommend them? They are noted for cheap international calls but don't seem to do 4G, as far as I can see.

Corner shops throughout the UK sell SIM cards for most networks.

Just adding another option in for the OP as its pretty cheap even if it isn't 4G.
