Hi,

If SLW is in operation, and you're travelling in the right direction (ie. The signalling system is in place for the direction of travel), the pilotman could dictate the ticket to you and say 'SLW in operation between X and Y'

If there was 5 signals in that section, could the pilotman send in multiple trains, normal signalling permitting? As in: could a train be sent in the right direction, get 3 signals deep, then the pilotman send in another train for the slw section, but a different signalling section?

No, only one train in the SLW section at any one time.

If the train is in the right direction, it is signalled normally, but the next train can't enter the section until the train has left the section and the drivers form cancelled.

Could split the slw into more than one section giving more trains per hour, but it will still be very slow.

When SLW is in the right direction, can the trains still go line speed?

And is SLW limited to a set speed in the wrong direction, or is it route-dependant please?

Are you getting it mixed up with TBW or ESW? You can have more than one train in SLW in the right direction at once - broadly, normal signalling applies. You can split it in the wrong direction too, in certain circumstances. The Pilotman's purpose is to maintain the integrity of the single line against opposite direction moves, not to keep following trains apart. The driver's ticket isn't necessarily immediately returned to anyone - if not accompanied by the Pilotman, the driver cancels the ticket and hands it in later.

Right direction: Linespeed
Wrong direction: 50mph
Points and crossings: 15mph

In the Right Direction, the Signaller can keep sending them in so long as the Pilotman has given the driver his instructions, normal signalling applies.
In the Wrong Direction, one train in the section, unless it has been split with an Intermediate Hand Signaller.

But nothing to stop the pilotman sending several trains in the same direction - one at a time wrong line before getting on the 'last' train of the flight to catch a train coming back in the opposite direction.

...as long as there’s a handsignalman or main aspect signal at the other end, and of course making sure that the last train in a particular ‘flight’ is actually running to avoid finding himself “wrong ended”!

Be that as it may, nothing to stop the pilotman sending a few trains a similar way - each in turn wrong line prior to getting on the 'last' train of the trip to find a train returning the other way.

No, in the RIGHT direction you can follow signal to signal if you require :)

Only if there is a Handsig, or Main Aspect at the other end :)
