Any ideas what's up at Darlington? Loads of Northern units that should be going to Middlesbrough are just sat there. There was a points failure at Middlesbrough earlier but that seems to have been fixed (or at least NRE says it has and there have been some train movements). The North East part of the ECML is in complete meltdown this morning. Electricity failure at Newcastle, points failure at Durham. Snowfall much heavier than anything seen for the last few years.

OHL issues Broxbourne and Southbury.Any more details?
I've not been slow to criticise the railway industry on numerous occasions but generally speaking I think they've done a pretty good job during this cold snap.
All those that complained yesterday that the Railway should be running a full service, hope they are happy today !
No they’ll just switch to moaning about how Canada, Switzerland (insert irrelevant arctic circle/alpine country) etc. can cope so why can’t the U.K.
Don't they just bore the a*se off you mate.

We are. Full credit to GTR it is running very well as well. All those that complained yesterday that the Railway should be running a full service, hope they are happy today !

We got a very sternly-worded email reminding everyone their obligations under the terms of employment.Full credit to all Rail staff from all Companies, (Drivers/Signallers/PWay etc) that made the effort to get into work so that the actual service could start up ! road conditions were appalling this morning over a lot of the country, with a lot of roads in East Anglia closed or long tail backs, there may well have been delays due to snow clogged points that overwhelmed the heaters, but in Anglia there were (in our area) delays but not that many outright cancellations
I see Southeastern have gone kaput. Ice everywhere, mostly in the points - also traction power and snow-related door problems.
The fact that the GTR service has gone into meltdown (not sure if that’s actually the thermally correct term, to be fair) south of the Thames must have escaped you!
Lines with a modified timetable are actually mostly running well, at least when it comes to bits outside London, but that’s only a couple of routes. The others, erm, aren’t.
However, this is largely due to an engineering train failing across a junction at Herne Hill, barricading northbound Thameslink services; a passenger service with a compressor failure at Moulsecoomb; trains frozen solid at Lovers Walk; and numerous points failures due to both ice and other things. The biggest points issues have been in Selhurst Depot about 0400 (fun for the staff dealing with that, I’d imagine...) and recently at Streatham Common.
