Not got much. I've not had model trains since I were a lad and am just now putting the finishing touches to a 4 foot shunting plank based on two Inglenook sidings with a short run-round.

So far I've got a Hornby plain green Cl09 and a matching Heljan Cl15 to shunt various Bachmann wagons, though my motive power stable is set to expand. I've got a plain green Bachmann Cl24 and a Hattons special edition plain green Heljan Cl33 on order and awaiting delivery, and there are firm plans to order a plain green Bachmann Cl03 to share duties with the Hornby Cl09 together with a vague notion to source a plain green Heljan Cl35 "Hymek". If the headshunts prove to be long enough I may also order up a Hornby Cl31, a Heljan Cl28 and a (hopefully) non-exploding Heljan Cl17 "Clayton", again all in plain green.

The wagons I have are also largely subject to order and centre mainly on BR's transition era. In the end there should be a good spread of vans, hoppers, tankers and open wagons. Space is at a premium so most are short wheelbase.

I've never bothered much with model railways, certainly never had a layout. I was never good enough at the modelling side, so just left it to other people. Always had a soft spot for a nice model or two though. I work for a large parcels firm and occasionally they sell off to staff all the stuff they can't find homes for. I got a Hornby Golden Arrow Pullman set this way for £25, and a Bachmann class 20 (my lordz!) for a fiver! Both unopened at the time.

Pride and joy though has to be this Hornby Dublo Bristol Castle, in close to mint condition and in the original 1957 plain box that the first batches were released in before the artwork was ready.

<is smug>

A fiver for a Bachmann 20? Bargain!

Aha, I have discovered another Hornby Dublo "Bristol Castle" owner. I have one of the later ones, mint boxed, with the loco artwork on the box lid: Such a great loco, especially for it's era.

I've got a veritable hoard of Hornby Dublo locos, rolling stock and accessories actually, that have been handed down to me over the years from older relatives and friends of the family who grew up in the three-rail era: This includes the Hornby Dublo "Sir Nigel Gresley" trainset, still in it's box with track and two tinplate teak coaches! I've got two "Silver King" A4s in BR green, and an N2 0-6-2 tank in black. Absolutely loas of wagons and a fair few carriages, as well as signals, advertising hoardings, a water crane and all sorts of platform paraphernalia from the three rail era: Makes me wonder just how much the whole lot would be worth, there could be a small fortune there...

LMR 0-4-0 maroon saddle tank engine, no 895 (don't know what class, kettles aren't my speciality)
That's the Hornby "Caledonian Pug"; LMS 611 class, and Caledonian 269 class: The originals were ordered by McIntosh in 1895 to a standard Neilson design with traditional Caledonian Railway embellishments. 8 of them survived in service into the late 1950s, including one that got as far south as Crewe works.

I forgot to mention in my previous post my Hornby Pullmans: 3xGolden Arrow blue/grey first parlour cars, first parlour car "Leona", first kitchen car "Cynthia", third class parlour car and third class brake: The final four are the new Hornby Pullmans, with working table lights, and they are absolutely awesome.

I also have a rake of HAA coal hoppers: 3xEWS HAA hoppers, 3xHFA hoppers with coal hoods, 1 Railfreight HAA and 1 Trainload coal HAA.

Picked up a Brunswick Green 08 yesterday. DCC fitted, but nowhere to run it. :, and won't have until I move out. Still, looks very nice and is very sturdy.

I also very recently got a Hornby Caledonian set, which included CR 123 and CR coaches. This set was a gift, and is very beautiful. The loco is simply stunning.

Other than the above, all my other sets are old. 2x Class 91 and DVTs (one set IC livery, one set GNER, the latter with the coaches), one IC HST and an LNER garter blue Mallard.

I'm not in a hurry to get more considering I've no room for a layout.

Collection has been built up over the last 3 or so years, it is currently kept in a spare room at my parents house, A rather large spare room but it is only a temporary measure, hence it is set up on the floor rather than on base boards. Once I have moved to a house with the room I plan to make some kind of permanent set up.

With it not being here with me I can only think off the top of my head what I have got, so here goes.....

Hornby

EWS class 67
Pendolino full 9 car set.
Midland Mainline HST, complete with full 7 coach rake
First ScotRail class 90 Caledonian Sleeper with 6 coach rake, with one in progress.
The Talisman train pack with added coach pack.
Devon Belle coach pack, plus extra Pullman coach (with working table lights).
2 x Duchess of Sutherland.
At least 7 tank engines.
Railfreight class 37.
Rake of 9 EWS wagons.

Bachmann

Virgin class 57 'Lady Penolope'
First ScotRail class 158
Virgin Voyager 4 coach set.
Rake of 3 Interemodals.

VITrains

37401 'Mary Queen Of Scots'
DRS 47802 'Pride Of Cumbria'
West Coast Railways twin pack (37 & 47)

Lima

Class 156 (With EMT overlays)
Railfreight class 37

Various BR blue and grey coaches and many other things I can't remember.

My plan I think is to have a large station with diesel depot and coach/wagon siding. I have built up quite a selection of the very good Metcalfe card models including a large coach shed/maintenance depot, loco shed and platforms long enough for the 9 car Pendolino.

So many plans, just don't know what direction to head in yet. I sort of feel im set up for a modern era with a few heritage diesels and steam charters, but who knows.......

I have the following:
Steam
Smoky Joe engine
Flying snail liveried class 101
LSWR liveried class 101
Little Giant class 101
0-6-0 British railway tender locomotive(Ex-LMS,nicknamed rusty, has motor problem)
Coaches
Western region choc 'n' cream brake.
Pullman brake. (has bogie problem)
Trucks
I have a lot of trucks, including two hornby year wagons and a rake of hornby railroad tankers.
Diesels
CIE class 141 No 142.
In case your wondering Csalem, the livery is orange and black only without the arrow logos and CIE logos at the front.

I'm planning on getting more trains, since at my local model shop I saw two class 92s and a class 47 in one livery and they only cost fifty euro each. I'm tempted.......

NEW ADDITION! Lima class 47 47701 old oak common in nse livery.

If you are wondering why I couldnt have just edited the previous post, it's because the model is so great it deserves a post of it's own!

Not done 00 since about 2001 when I sold off most of my stuff including my rather obsesive collection of class 47's (Did have about 70! ) down to 20 now! Well I like them in real life.

I however have got back into railway modelling in a big way in the larger scales. I tried it back in 1989, failed with a mamod. This got abandoned next to my old 00 garden layout (also abandoned when I left the folks house). A couple of years ago I found my old mamod looking a bit the worse for wear :( .

DSCN0385.jpg

This however was a little challenge & now she's back running again after a few new parts & upgrades..

IMAG0994.jpg

This though got me back into railway modelling, but this time in narrow gauge which I know is not everyones taste (& steam which of course is another taste change). Soon I was building kits & forming a master plan of desired loco's & stock. This was started & then we moved house & the house was selected with a certain criteria.
1- My wife & I like the location.
2- My wife likes the actual house.
3- It has a big garden for a railway for me! :D

So as I cannot say class 66 or Mk3 or similar I will show photo's of the lines traction if thats ok.

In order! of course.

IMAG1020.jpg

No 1 a Mamod 0-4-0 SLK converted to gas firing & upped in boiler pressure from 15psi to 30psi.(1989 vintage).

No's 2,3,4,5( the original No 5) & 6 were all mamods bought & repaired or used as spares. Since sold on to fund other stuff.

DSCN1460-1.jpg

Now N0 5 is an IP Jessie class 0-4-0 diesel "Scarlett". The lines first Thunderbird. [March 2010]

IMAG0953.jpg

No 7 an Accucraft Edrig class 0-4-0 live gas steamer "Firefly". Since repainted. [March 2010]

IMAG1989.jpg

No 8(23) an Accucraft W&L Countess 0-6-0 live gas steamer "Countess". [Sept 2010]

IMAG2061.jpg

No 9 a Roundhouse Fowler B9 1/2 class 0-6-2 Live gas steamer "Matilda". Built for the Innisfail tramway Queensland Australia by Fowler of Leeds. One of three built in the 1920's. I had to get a model of this class as Innisfail in Australia is the town I was born in. [Sept 2010].

IMAG1851.jpg

No 10 a Roundhouse Carrie class 0-4-0 Live gas steamer. "Warrior" [May 2010].

IMAG1510.jpg

No 11 an IP Jack class 0-6-0 Diesel. The lines second Thunderbird. [May 2010].

IMAG0584.jpg

No 12 an IP Rapier 0-4-0 diesel. Well they are only £30 I had to have one. General dogsbody of the line.

I hope you enjoyed my lineup, bit different I know but some may like it.

If you want to visit the lines website for more pics, news & video's the the link is this.

It's still a WIP but getting there now.

I would love a Lima Midland Mainline (original livery) HST

Same here, its probably top of my most wants list. There is quite often one pop up on ebay, and I've goen for it but every time someones set it up so it automaticaly outbids you, up to a point. And that point just happends to be past my budget.

I find that if you want an old livery MML you have to be prepared to pay alot. I've seen them go for £80odd, which is quite impressive for an old second hand model. When the new livery one could be picked up first hand for that much.

I once seen two old livery MML lima MK3s go for more than £40

That makes it oh-so tempting to sell my 2+8 MML HST, but I won't, it's going DCC with lights and stuff when I get the chance!

Oh, 158906 (original WYPTE livery) went DCC recently, so add that to my list.

Yep, I have seen the prices on eBay for them rocket. Mind you I think there's a full HST in FGW 'Fag Packet' liver going for over £700

Hey there chaps (and chap-ess's)

Long time Lurker - 1st time poster!

Please be gentle!!!

I'll name my list of the top of my head then i could do with some advice.

GNER 373 Eurostar Train Pack
GNER Class 91 Train Pack (not Mallard version)
2x Intercity Class 91 (one with working Pantograph named Red Arrows)
82 DVT Intercity
Class 47 Intercity Livery
Iron Duke Steam Engine - Not sure of Class - Really Old
Class 31 BR colours
GWS Steam Train (needs work)
Thomas!!!

2 x Mark 4 Intercity Coaches
5 x BR Intercity Livery HST's (3 Blue & Yellows - 2 Black & Yellow)
3 x BR Intercity Mark II Blue and Grey coaches
1 x BR Intercity Sleeper Mark II (Blue & Grey)
3 x Red Royal Mail coaches
1 x BR Royal Mail coach
Annie & Clarebel!!!

and about 10 mixed freight wagons, 5 Guards Vans

I'm looking to build a 'proper' layout for these (and any new purchases) to run on.

I want to base this in late 90's-early 2000's period hence my want for more GNER liveried goodies. I want to build a main line set-up with a made up Train Depot nd yards in the background showing the older liveries (Intercity HST & 91's) going into the paint shops!

I will be purchasing Mark 3's & 4's coaches in both BR and GNER liveries over the next year as i go to work on building this in my loft. I'm not basing it in any sort of area, but my want for 'other liveries' i'd probably loosely base this on Bounds Green Depot near to London - this way i can have a few more liviries flying past!

Let me know your thoughts on this idea and liveries that you think i should aim for.

SO heres my list from earlier this year but ive been having an overhaul to collect all the loco and stock to hopefully begin building my layout sometime in 2011.

Gone are:

Class 47 Intercity Livery
Thomas, Annie & Clarabel
5 x BR Intercity Livery HST's (3 Blue & Yellows - 2 Black & Yellow)
3 x BR Intercity Mark II Blue and Grey coaches
1 x BR Intercity Sleeper Mark II (Blue & Grey)
3 x Red Royal Mail coaches
1 x BR Royal Mail coach
and about 10 mixed freight wagons, 5 Guards Vans

And here's the updated list as of 27/12/10

Loco's:

Hornby Super Detail A4 'Mallard'
Hornby A3 'Flying Scotsman'
Bachmann A4 'Bittern'
GNER 373 Eurostar Train Pack
GNER Class 91 Train Pack (not Mallard version)
GNER Class 91 'Queen Elizabeth II' and DVT 82 'Duke of Edinburgh'
GNER Class 90
GNER Class 08
Intercity Class 91 'Red Arrows'
Intercity Class 91 (un-named)
82 DVT Intercity
Iron Duke Steam Engine - Not sure of Class
BR Class 31
Railfreight Class 60
RES Class 47
RES Class 87

Rolling Stock:

GNER Early Livery Mark 4, 8 Standard
GNER Later Livery Mark 4, 4 Standard, 4 First, 1 Restaurant
GNER Mallard Mark 4, 3 Standard, 2 First, 1 Restaurant
Intercity Mark 4, 4 Standard

I am looking to add to the collection with some GNER 43's and Mark 3 Coaches, Virgin 220's,221's and Pendolino, Classes 158, 143 and to complete the GNER Mark 4's to have three full rakes. I'll also be looking to add coaches to the A3 and A4's plus purchasing the Bachmann A1 Tornado with my bonus next April! I'm also thinking of setting up a blog once i begin building the layout once i'm ready to roll. Im quite lucky that the company i work for has quite a large storage area where i can utilise the spare space! The layout (im hoping) will be around 20ft long and set out like a real exhibition layout!

I would like to add Hornby's Railroad "Evening Star" to my list. Stunning model, and for only £60, a bloody steal!
