About us

Southeastern is one of the busiest commuter rail companies in the UK running more than 2,000 trains, and carrying nearly 600,000 passengers every day between London, Kent and East Sussex.

With over 4,000 employees - mostly from the communities that we serve - we work together to provide this vital service and are looking to expand our successful team. We have a strong set of values that shape the way we run our business and guide our staff in delivering what our customers need. These are:

We care passionately about our people and our passengers
We make the difference together
We aim to be the best

Your role:

Train drivers are at the heart of our business, getting our passengers to where they need to be, on time and safely. Driving a train carries great responsibility but with that comes pride and achievement, knowing that an invaluable service has been delivered to thousands of people every single day.

Currently operating the first ever UK-based High-Speed Service, we now have an exciting opportunity for qualified train drivers to be part of our High-Speed Service at our Faversham/Ashford/Ramsgate Depot.

Account will also be taken of applicant’s current performance.

Full Class 395 traction and rules to operate on HS1 training will be given.

High Speed drivers will receive a pensionable supplement of £3,100 per annum in addition to the standard drivers’ salary.

Applications are invited from any qualified driver who has completed at least two years driving.

(Please note that applicants who have previously applied within the last 6 months need not reapply).

Note: Southeastern has a zero tolerance policy on the misuse of drugs and alcohol by employees, therefore you will be required to attend a medical assessment and undergo a Drugs and Alcohol Screening prior to joining Southeastern. If you fail the drugs and alcohol screening or refuse to take the test, your offer of employment will be withdrawn.

It reads as any qualified driver with 2 years experience (not necessarily high speed experience) to me?

When you include the supplement, that's £30.30 per hour. Tasty.

If only they had a St Pancras depot! Bit too far out for me.

Might open up some places at Orpington?! For trainee drivers

I have no idea how or why that would happen but... Orpington was recruited for quite recently and had a large influx of new trainees.
