Different topic: the Sussex Rambler, 201 had a headboard 313 FAREWELL 1976 2023. Photo's on this thread, post 1030.

Was the headboard Southern's or BLS's? If the former, do any of you know if it'll get used again, at the end of this week?

I checked a well known auction site but it's not up for sale... :D

Eight Class 313s out today according to PTT's blog, one fewer than yesterday.

I'm heading down to the coast on Friday afternoon now in case no 313s make it out on Saturday. As the weekday diagrams have changed with the industrial action, can anyone advise the last booked 313 working of the day, please?

Edit: I think the last 313-operated service of Friday will in fact be in the early hours of Saturday morning: the 0036 Barnham - Bognor, if a 377 doesn't deputise. Would be very grateful for confirmation.

Absolutely ridiculously poor train planning to have a gutted service worked by 3 cars with half the fleet sat doing nothing in Selhurst.
Who is going to transfer the units on an additional unscheduled move if the drivers are in dispute and not working overtime?

Besides, in the context of this thread it would mean 313s not working.

It might have been an onboard raffle prize.

Thanks. If.it's the headboard being held by the chap in that Twitter post, then it's actually a different headboard, not from the tour. Photo's attached.

Sm5, that's agood point, I hadn't thought of that. It's what used to happen in the days I frequented tours (1980s!).

Marvellous - thanks, it's been activated since the time I was looking. Luckily I'd already moved my Wednesday morning meetings about. Hope to photograph it.

Thanks for that too.

Today's scheduled stock move seems a bit dormant...

I know it's (slightly) off topic, but it's being announced that Saturdays service is amended, been said that the last Brighton to Victoria is @ 20:41

Yes, as it shows in RTT, but it might also be noted that the last arrival into Brighton from Seaford is at 1829, and from Hove is at 1832, so any candidate for last 313 service is well before 2040, if they are actually running.

The uncertainty is whether they will be out on Saturday or not; a few sources mention they are expected to be running until Friday at least.

Having seen the planned service for the 20th, it looks doubtful any 313s will be out but perhaps they will use them on the Seaford line only. I've already made plans so it will be most frustrating if they leave it until just a couple of days before to confirm Friday is in fact the last day.

The latest post from the Twitter team just a couple of hours ago doesn't help: "The 313s will be running all day on Saturday 20 May on the Brighton to Seaford/Lewes routes and some to Portsmouth. They will also be operating on the Littlehampton to Bognor Regis/Portsmouth & Southsea route." There is no service to Portsmouth or Bognor planned for Saturday and they surely won't be used on the Brighton to Barnham service.
No 313s are booked out on Saturday due to the heavily reduced timetable, the Seaford service is booked 8 car 377s.

That's what I'm getting told as well, It was going to be 1 diagram but it seems that was internal speculation (or it was going to happen but it gets swapped). Pretty much too late for me now. Can't make it today or Friday.

Their last 48 Hours, use them while you can those on the coastway!

I would've thought they would use the 313s more intensively as they are "free" to use. By that, I mean that their remaining mileage is "free", where no further maintenance is required.

In SWR, when they withdrew 10-car metro operations, I remember they made 456+456+455 formations to "finish off" their 456s as opposed to just parking up their 456s.

PEPS out west this morning. 07:34-35 at Bedhampton is where Littlehampton to Pompey passes Pompey to Brighton.

This morning, not only did the services actually arrive at the same time but the PEP Gods looked kindly on us, with 207 west to Pompey and 215 east to Brighton.

Tomorrow's challenge for me: a photo!

They are not really suitable in times of a reduced timetable though, given they can only run as single units on most routes due to short platforms.

23:53 Seaford-Brighton on Friday may be the last, then. Unless there’s a later arrival into Brighton from west coastway that’s typically a 313?

Yesterday on Twitter they were still saying that they'd run 313s to Seaford on Saturday (having removed the erroneous information about Portsmouth) - so just to confirm is this no longer the case?

As I said above, there is a 0036 Barnham - Bognor Regis which works off the LIT-BOG/PMS workings, so this would be the last service assuming a 377 isn't substituted. An incredibly awkward final train if so and a major waste of time and money for those who expected it to be Saturday.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather

Indeed. And they'll have to get it back to Lover's presumably
