Amongst changes to the Southern timetable starting in December 2012 will be an additional train at 0517 Uckfield-London Bridge.
Sounds good to have a much earlier train to meet the rapidly growing passenger numbers on this line. But here are a few points to consider-
The unit to form this train will be stabled overnight at Uckfield after working the last train down from London. The train crew will travel back to Selhurst by TAXI. In the morning the next crew for the 0517 train will travel by TAXI from Selhurst to Uckfield. By leaving the train at Uckfield all night it would be available for A.Graffitti and gang to give the train a repaint. If the train fails to start in the morning then that it not only blocks the line for other trains but staff will have a long wait for engineers to travel by road from Selhurst.
What do other readers think.?

This would be better in the NR Discussion section ;)

Think its a poor idea myself, the overnight train would be better off ECS to Selhurst and then ECS to Uckfield in the morning. Would have thought that security at Uckfield station would be improved - but Uckfield isnt a hotspot for crime, put it that way.

Also, where did you find this out ?
