A new airport in one of our Overseas Territory's is too windy to open.

The plan for the new airport is to serve the island with flights from Johannesburg and London and also flights to the RAF base at Ascension Island, it will also extend the UK's airborne missions to stop piracy etc in the South Atlantic region.

The mail ship (RMS St Helena) which was due to be retired in mid July, is now taking bookings on sailings until the end of September.

Have the issue with unpredictable air currents on the approach to the runway been resolved now ?

Presumably not yet, since the ship is operating three more round trips (Cape Town / SH / Ascension / SH / Cape Town) in late July, August & September.

What can they do to fix it, aside from building a giant embankment or hiring those nutty pilots who operate into Lukla!
