If you're a member of staff on overnight railtour trips run by the likes of LSL, UK Railtours, Pathfinder etc, where do you stay?

Do the railtour operator put you up? Do you have to share dormitories or rooms? Or do you get single privacy?

I take it that they sort it for you? Is it the same as when you lodge if you stay over for a TOC (or an airline, I guess).

The company will have preferred chain to stay with in the big towns and cities. Other hotels will be looked at in remote areas. Smaller companies will use a company credit card and the big ones will have centralised accounts to book with.

And do you know if when large teams have to lodge overnight, whether they are expected to share rooms with colleagues?

As a grown adult, I'm just wondering if it would put me off overnighters. I'd expect single occupancy privacy in today's world, but you never know. Asking for a friend!

Certainly LSL arrange accommodation for their staff and usually have their 'go-to' hotels at each location, hotels are sometimes also booked I believe at the origin point for a tour if there is an early start, the alternative is a very early coach to pick up the tour at its start point.

I assume that staff that are happy to share a hotel room would do so and those that aren't, don't. 'Dormitories' wouldn't come into it as they are generally found in hostels which wouldn't be used for staff accommodation.

I’d be absolutely staggered if staff were expected to share rooms in this day and age.

Are you considering / have you applied for a job as onboard staff at LSL?
Research purposes. Do you know the answer to my question, please?

Can anybody who works for LSL, UK Railtours, Pathfinder, WCRC, Railway Touring Company etc. shed any light on this one please?
