Don't both buses have ramps stored inside the bus to be taken out when required?

Also It in a bid to solve the lack of coaches at Glenrothes depot, 59 plate 54069 has come back into service. So no more deckers on the X26 :( Aberhill is still short mind you...

What is the plan for 53718-53722 which are about to be replaced on the X56?

I would agree. Can't remember which but one has the heating jammed on. Dread that one in this weather.

The first of the August service changes went through the VOSA today, a few changes which weren't listed on the original proposal also [Strathtay 27, Fife 85 & 86 (which is being culled back to Ferrytoll P&R with some journeys withdrawn)]

Well firstly the extra journey on the 85 is welcomed, So the next step is 15.10 journey on school holls ;)

With the 86 is not changing at the southern end ;) it's no longer serving Saline it seems, of course this has nothing to do with the fact the evening journeys operated 5-10min behide other bus routes going the exact same way.... lets waste lots of money..... Other routes which might get changed because of this is F6 and No6. 86a morning is gone it seems, I suspect only the 7am morning journey is kept and the 6pm and 8pm journeys are kept with connections

Cheers.

Further Changes are taken place:
* X27 Revised route within Kirkcaldy to serve Whytemans Brae rather than the northern part of Hendry Road. Will the drivers remember to stop here instead?
* 14 Revised daytime route reverting to Hendry Road in both directions, and not via Whytemans Brae and Victoria Hospital

Nice to See the F59 is back. Great Success last year, I dare say the X58 will still see a few extra dups.

It seems NON of the 86 journeys have been scraped and the bits lost have been merged with other routes or should provide connections .

* 4: Mon-Fri 0450 from Steelend added; Mon-Fri 2245 Dunfermline to Blairhall operates as 4C; Mon-Fri 2312 Blairhall - Dunfermline operates as 4C and diverts via Steelend
* 6: Minor timetable changes..

Another one of the new coaches has had a minor accident ( 3 in total now) A driver tried to get past a lothian bus at the Barton and smashed the back window on the shelter.

In other news details of F59, it has been cut back but I think by to much. I can still see some extra dups on the X58 and X59.

Extra journeys to/from Fife during Edinburgh Festival06 Jul 2018 to 28 Aug 2018

August is the busiest time of year for journeys from Fife to Edinburgh, and to help you get there more easily, we’re running special Festival service, F59 in August between Halbeath park & ride, Ferrytoll park & ride and Edinburgh up to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday and up to every 30 minutes on Sunday, providing extra capacity at this busy time of year.
Combined with existing Express services, this will provide journeys between Halbeath P&R and Edinburgh up to every 10 minutes, and between Ferrytoll P&R and Edinburgh up to every 5 minutes!

View our F59 timetable.

This year, we're also adding a new late night journey between Edinburgh and Perth, ideal for getting home after catching an evening show!
Service F56 will depart Perth at 2055, calling at the same stops as service X55. A return journey will also be available from Edinburgh to Perth, departing at 2245.

View our F56 timetable.

We’ll also be running a night service between Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh in both directions, during August only, stopping at Ferrytoll P&R, Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay. The following N58 journeys will run on Friday and Saturday nights (Saturday and Sunday early mornings) from Friday 3 - Sunday 26 August:

  • N58 0015 journey from Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh
  • N58 0115 journey from Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy
  • N58 0215 journey from Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh
  • N58 0315 journey from Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy

Don’t forget - our normal N55 journeys between Edinburgh and Dunfermline, stopping at Ferrytoll P&R, Inverkeithing and Rosyth will also be running on Friday and Saturday nights:

  • N55 0030 journey from Dunfermline to Edinburgh
  • N55 0130 journey from Edinburgh to Dunfermline
  • N55 0230 journey from Dunfermline to Edinburgh
  • N55 0330 journey from Edinburgh to Dunfermline

All usual Express City Connect services will run as normal in August too, but delays may be expected due to the high volume of traffic travelling to/from Edinburgh. Please allow extra time for your journey (we don’t want you arriving late to your show!) and remember to plan ahead and track your bus arrival or download the Stagecoach Bus App.

Here is the list for all the changes: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/east-scotland/service-change-proposals

I can't say I'm impressed with the revised route in Edinburgh going via South St David Street.

Service changes from Monday 13 August
We have recently reviewed our bus services, mainly in North East Fife with changes taking effect from Monday 13 August. These changes are largely as a result of a recent re-tendering exercise by Fife Council for subsidised services. We will also take the opportunity to make some adjustments to services following feedback on the changes made in May 2018 and to address a number of customer requests received over the past few months.

A summary of the changes is given below. Timetables will be available in late July:

Fife Area

Service 3/3A: Townhill – Dunfermline – Duloch Park
Proposal: Minor changes to late afternoon/early evening journeys serving Amazon.
Service type: Partly contracted (evening and Sunday).
Reason for proposal: to give a better balance of journeys serving Pitcorthie and Abbeyview in the evening peak.

Service 4/4A/4B/4C: Dunfermline - Blairhall
Proposal: The Monday to Friday 2245 Dunfermline to Blairhall and 2312 Blairhall to Dunfermline journeys now run as service 4C, serving Saline and Steelend. A new Monday to Friday 0450 Steelend – Oakley – Dunfermline journey has been added to replace a similar service 86 journey.
Service type: Partly contracted.
Reason for proposal: Requested by Fife Council.

Service 6: Crombie – Dunfermline – Oakley
Proposal: The Monday to Friday 0647 Dunfermline – Oakley & 0702 Oakley – Dunfermline now run 5 minutes earlier. The Monday to Friday 1800 Crombie – Oakley and 1856 Oakley – Dunfermline now run 5 minutes later.
Service type: Partly contracted.
Reason for proposal: Requested by Fife Council to replace part of service 86.

Service 7A: Kirkcaldy – Leven
Proposal: Revised timetable maintaining the current 30 min frequency. 0636 7A retimed to depart at 0630 to allow connection on 0650 service 97.
Service type: Commercial.
Reason for proposal: To further improve coordination with services in the Levenmouth area, building on improvements introduced in May. Buses will run up to every 10 minutes between Leven and Muiredge using a combined frequency of services 7/7A and 9/9A. Between East Wemyss and Kirkcaldy journeys will run every 15 minutes on the 7/7A.

Service 9/9A: Methilhill – Leven – Kennoway – Denhead/Bonnybank
Proposal: Revised timetable maintaining the current 30 min frequency.
Service type: Commercial.
Reason for proposal: To further improve coordination with services in the Levenmouth area, building on improvements introduced in May. Buses will run up to every 10 minutes between Leven and Muiredge using a combined frequency of services 7/7A and 9/9A.

Service 11/12: Kirkcaldy – Templehall – Fife Central Retail Park
Proposal: This service has additional time added to the timetable and a minor route amendment. Service 11 journeys continue to serve Forth Avenue and Ferrard Rd Aldi upon departure from Kirkcaldy Bus Station, but now arrive into Kirkcaldy Bus Station via Bennochy Road bridge. Service 12 journeys departing Kirkcaldy Bus Station are now routed via Bennochy Road bridge instead of Forth Avenue, but continue to arrive in to the Bus Station via Ferrard Rd Aldi and Forth Avenue.
Service type: Partly contracted (evening and Sunday)
Reason for proposal: To address reliability problems experienced since the changes made in May 2018.
Further changes: Further amendments have been made to the timetable to increase running times on certain journeys.

Service 14: Kirkcaldy – Dunnikier
Proposal: Revised daytime route reverting to Hendry Road in both directions, and not via Whytemans Brae and Victoria Hospital.

I have to disagree, I think the extension to Scott Monument is better as it gives better connections and a more central stop for passengers who don't want to go as far as the Bus Station.

I'm glad to see that they've decided against the omission of Dundee Bus Station on 42 and 77. Also glad to see that they're increasing the frequency to every 15 minutes on the 42. Hopefully, St Andrews ditch their Versas and keep the Solos when the changes kick in.

I notice that the 99 is to be increased to every 20 minutes in the evening; was this part of the original proposal? I can't recall.

Is the 1540 X5 from Dunfermline to Edinburgh just a dead mileage killer? That's what it seems like.

It'll be very interesting to see how they manage to improve reliability on service 30 in Arbroath. Adding in Great Michael Road will actually increase journey times.

The 39 route change is a step in the correct direction. The junction at Victoria Bridge (Dens Road/Victoria Road/Victoria Street) can be very congested at peak times.

You won't be saying that when your stuck in traffic trying to get past the Scott Monument ;) There was no ref to the 99s being every 20mins in the evenings from the link on p85.

My driver on the X54 last Thursday came down and on to Princes Street at Scott Monument on the 1645 run. I think 3 cars managed to get through each green light (turning on to Princes Street), so I can see where you're coming from.

I remember years ago coming back to Edinburgh from St. Andrews on an X58, 4pm on a winters afternoon with serveral feet of snow in Fife, on a bus which had the opposite problem, no heating working at all ... thankfully that bus was only going to Dunfermline and I had time to spare before the 55 back to Edinburgh to enjoy a piping hot pie, mash and beans and a coffee in the bus station cafe!! (At the time it seemed like the world's best pie mash and beans lol)

Ticket changes come into affect as of the 2nd of September. A number of changes include merging all the the Perth and Fife zones into one or two zones.

Also ticket prices are reducing, a Tayside Megarider is currently £111.20 for a four weekly but is reducing to £80.00.

More info here...
https://www.stagecoachbus.com/servi...1&hootPostID=5e8cac682c0d6cf22fc6c901e383a52b
Having read the notice on the Stagecoach website, it appears the lower price is that for the new U19 version. The adult price looks to remain the same, though the U19 megarider is £3 cheaper than the current 4 week Tayside Zone 2 unirider, which covers the identical area.

I've recently emailed to ask why Crieff isn't included within the current Perth Zone 3 Megarider yet Dunkeld is seeing as it's almost the exact same distance and time to get to both places from Perth.

It means passengers in Crieff are paying an extra £50 odd a month for a 4 weekly Tayside Megarider for nothing.

I've still to receive an response back from them.

The Nightrider price is going up to £3. If your traveling over a longer distance is still a good saving.

Is Perth short on Double Deckers at the minute? Been seeing more and more Tridents that are usually with Strathtay or Fife on local and rural Perth routes.

Seen 18082, 18086 from Strathtay and 18508 from Fife in the week or so.

Bus travel on north-east routes is to get an upgrade with a £600,000 investment in vehicles.

Stagecoach announced 10 new minibuses are to join its fleet.

The Mercedes Sprinter vehicles are fitted with faux leather seats, seatbelts and low-noise engines.

Wonder if these are really "new" or displaced from elsewhere?
Technically the operations of Bluebird Buses (Aberdeen & Shire, Moray etc.) and Highland (whatever it calls itself these days) fall under the banner of Stagecoach North Scotland, rather than Stagecoach East Scotland, which has responsibility for the areas covered by Strathtay and Fife. Strictly speaking it is the wrong thread, but I'm fairly sure that not everyone is aware of how Stagecoach has structured its operations; I certainly was unaware until fairly recently. And given that Aberdeen is located, you know, on the east coast of Scotland, it's an easy mistake to make.

Are there enough newsworthy events in the North division to merit a separate thread?
