Strange timetable on the X51. Stopping at St John’s on the way from Dunfermline but not on the way back.
Indeed, think this could cause confusion as people heading to Dunfermline won't board the Livingston bound bus.

Also noticed that the final journey serves the hospital on the way back, which seems strange to just have one do the return

When you actually look at the timetable it's not strange at all.

A round trip on the service takes 1 hour and 53 minutes, as the service runs hourly this can be covered by two buses. If you were to go via St John's in both directions it would increase the running time and likely put it over 2 hours, as such the service would require an extra bus.

Most runs only sit at Livingston for 4 minutes, whereas the last run sits at Livingston for 19 minute so that will be why it goes via St John's in both directions.

Think they will need to make it much clearer that it is a circuit Service at the end with the drivers changing it to Dunfermline before they get St John’s otherwise I can see people letting it go past. I don’t think most people think of getting a service past its terminus, certainly in this area.
It should maybe just show as a continuous Dunfermline to Dunfermline timetable if they are going to do that.

There is only one bus stop it serves during the day and that is towards Livingston bus stance.

A better solution would perhaps be to have the St Johns Hospital timing point on both the outbound and inbound timetables. Although I suspect that because the current Stagecoach timetables are just lazily exported directly from the scheduling software, it might not be possible to do that.

I do agree that the destination on the bus should be changed to "Dunfermline" on arrival at St Johns though.

It looks as if Arbroath are getting rid of some hybrids. 13044/111 have gone to Perth in exchange for 19553/4 whilst 13115 has gone to Blairgowrie in exchange for 10006. I don't know if it's temporary or permanent and whether more hybrids will leave Arbroath.

It's more likely that the vehicles are surplus to requirements, given the reduction in the PVR of the 73.

Why would an equal number of deckers be moving from Perth/Blairgowrie to Arbroath in return then?

13111 moving comes as no surprise as this was the bus involved in the fatal RTC on the A90.

How often do they normally change the buses on the 73? Maybe there's something new coming.
The B7TL Vykings were replaced after 8 years, the Enviro400s were replaced after 5 and a half years. There are no brand new vehicles expected for Dundee & Angus anytime soon.

It's more likely that the vehicles are surplus to requirements, given the reduction in the PVR of the 73.
There has not been a reduction in PVR of the 73 since May 2021, and vehicle movements have already taken effect reflecting that.

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
Thanks for the replies. Have I missed this year's order announcement or have they not made a big song and dance about this year's new vehicle acquisitions and are just putting a little bit here and there because obviously money will be tight and things will be a bit uncertain because of the pandemic. I know about the 34 new buses for Orkney but hadn't heard about anything else other than the Ayrshire electrics which I think are part funded anyway

Strike action averted with 7.5% over 2 years deal:

A Strike by Stagecoach East workers has been averted after a new pay deal was accepted.

Industrial action had been on the cards after an earlier deal was rejected but Unite Scotland have confirmed this threat has been averted after its members accepted "a significantly improved" pay offer.

Earlier this month, around 600 Stagecoach East workers rejected a previous offer with Unite stating at the time that there was "some distance to go" to meeting the pay demands of its members.

The workers involved in the dispute are drivers, engineering staff, administrative workers, and cleaners.

...

reported previously by the Press, employees in both Fife and Tayside were last week offered two-year deals which would increase pay by an average of 7.5 per cent over the period covered by the agreements.

They had earlier rejected a pay offer of 2.4 per cent backdated to May 2021 by 90 per cent.

The trade union had warned that unless there was a “significant shift” in Stagecoach’s pay offers across its Scottish divisions, then strike action by the end of October would be “inevitable”.

Unite has demanded the bus company meet its “fair” pay claim of the Retail Price Index inflation figure (3.8 per cent – July) plus one per cent.

The trade union and company went back into discussions last Friday after the rejection.

At that time, Douglas Robertson, managing director of Stagecoach East Scotland said: “We have had constructive discussions today (Friday) with Unite.

No serious injuries thankfully, which is the most important thing.

Isn't that the former Megabus Silverstone bus?

This may have passed a few people by, but every single Fife council contract have been extended to August 2023. This means all the school and public council tenders in Fife will be up for grabs at once. It could become rather interesting if certain companies take on more school work commercially, thanks to the new Under 22 passes.

So that’s Perth’s E200EVs hit the road with the some of the original E300s for the 1/2 already moved to Strathtay.

29113 has got some weird tracking on it on though. According to Bus Times, it was on a 21 Stracathro then 15 minutes later it was on a 4 to Perth Bus Station.

I spent a couple of hours in Perth today and saw the following E200EV’s (listed in order of sightings):-

29112, 29116, 29113, 29110, 29115 & 29114.

All are in the standard “new” Stagecoach livery with no additional branding.

Most were on services 1&2 with one on service no7.

Perth's 18016 (SF53 BYO) has suffered a thermal incident on the A90 between Dundee and Perth on a school service this morning, making it the fourth of this batch to combust (18010, 18012, 18015).

A school bus has caught on fire on the A90 near Inchture – forcing the closure of the dual carriageway.

It is understood everyone manged to get off the Stagecoach double-decker safely, after it was engulfed with flames shortly after 8am on Thursday.

Pupils are said to be waiting at the side of the road, which has been shut in both directions while crews bring the blaze under control.

It is understood that the bus was heading towards Perth High School when the fire started.

A video from the scene showed large flames and smoke billowing from the vehicle.

There have been several bus fires this week. Overheating due to sudden rise in temperature?

Have Perth inherited some of Strathtay’s E400 B5LH’s? They seem to get going around Perth and the country routes quite a bit now.
Yes, 13111-4 have moved to Perth and 13041/2/4/5 have moved to Aberhill. Arbroath have received 11181/2/4/6 and 15625/6/7/8/30 in return

Does that mean Arbroath is getting some of the 30 odd new electric buses the company are getting?

The Volvo Hybrids are less suitable for the 20/21 and 73 than their replacements (ADL E400MMC smart hybrids and Scania Enviro 400s) apparently, it's only taken them 7 years to notice this

Well that opens up a new host of possibilities for these 30 new buses. I cant see 99s getting them since they have fast running as well while none of the town services in Fife could justify them either.

The 20/21 aren't exactly suitable for battery electric vehicles, and arguably the 73 isn't either, especially if it's BYD Enviro 400s which have limited range. The Fife 19 might be a good shout though
