I was in the lakes today and open top trident 17015 broke down in Windermere about early afternoonish, it sat in Windermere station NIS for about 30 minutes until a mechanic arrived with 17012 which was the spare open topper in Kendal today, so the 599 was a little messed up after that(didn't help when the snow arrived!)
I wonder if 17015 has got a few mechanical issues, yesterday 16294 was out in its place and it only lasted 4 hours today... we'll see how it pans out

nothing else unusual or exciting in the lakes, The info bus 40011 came out of ambleside depot when I was on the 599 earlier and headed in the Windermere direction

A passing thought......

What happened to the Bristol that was still in use around 2004/5 on the (Lanc/Prest) 40/41 route?

yes there is a error on the 11.10 and 16.10 from Bowness, they will now leave 10 mins later, will be corrected in the next lakes connection.

would it not be more likely to be 20 minutes later? eg the Penrith operated service leaves penrith at 09:30 and arrives at bowness at 11:22 so leaving at 11:30 would be more logical?

one of Carlisle's unbranded city darts 34715 I think it was was in Penrith on the new 508 service today, no idea what Kendal had on

http://www.flickr.com/photos/60671109@N08/

34715 was swapped over with a B10M before the morning run out as only the LED blinds have 508 on. It is in use again today and will be tommorow too.

That should be sorted by Tuesday along with X5 put back onto the Carlisle blinds instead of still showing X50.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I think I saw on another group somewhere that Kendal put 20949 out on 508.

They did and it was in use again today despite being booked for a Solo.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
The old Cockermouth School X5 now extends to Keswick (8:10 from Workington I think it is), does a return Keswick - Carlisle - Keswick, then I think it runs not in service back to Workington.

Runs back as a X4 to Cockermouth. Mis print on timetable and it is not currently showing.

Carlisle Citi branding has made a return to Carlisle today. Dennis Dart 34685 has finally lost its advert and is now showing full Citi branding!

About time it lost that advert, looked scruffy as hell.

Road closure for up to 2 weeks in Workington from this morning, but yet again no notices up on the website about bus route diversions! There could be some in the buses themselves but people who aren't using the services this week but will be next week (i.e. students at Energus) might not know about the diversions.
Affecting services 31, 50, 51 and 302.
Buses are using Harrington road and then turning left onto Honister Drive (crawling up the hill), then 50 and 302 turn left onto Newlands Lane with 50 turning right onto Scawfell Avenue to pick up normal route, I think 302 is going straight down then right onto High Street to pick up normal route, 31 turns right towards Moorclose Shops.
I'm told an extra bus is filling in on Moorclose Circulars to keep them to a timetable.

Goodness knows how 47023 managed Honister Drive this morning. 47062 crawled up steadily, in 1st, for my journey back home this afternoon. No info was in 47062 about road closure.

47023 was parked on Oxford Street around half 2, hazards on and no driver (but passengers on), whilst doing 48. Probably linked to its brutal beating on Honister this morning! Was there for some considerable time before a driver did return and off it went to continue 48.

Where have you got the 2 weeks from. The sign clearly says 5days from the 10th.

My bad there, recall a text I sent at the time saying 10 days to Brett. Miss type between date stated and days. Five days is correct. Although not officially stated, diversions will be in place for vehicular traffic inc. Stagecoach buses until then (correctly displayed in above post).

RIBBLE MOTOR SERVICES LTD T/A STAGECOACH IN LANCASHIRE, STAGECOACH NORTH WEST, T/A RIBBLE MOTOR SERVICES, BROADACRE HOUSE, 16 - 20 LOWTHER STREET, CARLISLE, CA3 8DA
Cancellation Accepted: Operating between Larkholme, Northway and Blackpool, Talbot Road given service number 74 effective from 03-Jun-2012.

I'm told the 3 Solo's will instead work Preston Citi 1A, with no major transfers out of Preston as the Olympians have already been withdrawn on paper after some allocations have been shifted around, plus 33472 is working from Preston to cover until the 74 goes. Happy to be corrected on that though.

22140 is in comer of Morecambe depot this evening with front panel missing as if was dragged here. Not sure when arrived tho!!

I assume ME will be doing some work on it before sending it to KL. With ME having a fleet of MANs it makes sense for them to work on it especially if they have spares etc.

Keswick bus station was chaos at about 11:20 this morning!
35248 had broken down while on the short X5 and being at the furthest stand it was blocking every bus that wanted to be out, the two X4s ended up leaving at 11:25 with the driver on the one to Penrith looking extreamly frustrated. A mechantic later arrived on 47023, interestingly 52628 was the other short X5(usually a low floor dart)

17217 was out today on the 78!!!!!! although at 3:15 it was sitting empty in the bus station with no driver, I'm guessing it was replaced with something.

got the 555 down to kendal after that.
20949 and 20456 were on 505
17012, 17013, 17016 16294 and a trident I couldn't identify on 599
14196!(a bus ive wanted to see for a while) was on the 755

I also spotted 14196 on the 755 and thought how great it would have been to have a ride on the old thing into the Lakes!
