Turns out 36184 has transferred to Chester? Picture appeared on Facebook of it working at Heswall, don't know what depot that puts it at. I would think 36185 is to follow which would leave the 86/89 Fleetwood-Knott End-Lancaster routes worked by Solos again.

36184/5 both transferred to Rock Ferry apparently, replaced at Preston by 34604 and ????

It's being reported that 19066/67/71 are to be transferred from Manchester to Preston (via Gilmoss) in order to cascade three more of the 181xx tridents to Chorley to replace 17018/9/21 for use on TfGM schools as the latter three are S-reg and dont fit in with the '15 years old or less' ruling...

17018 apparently has already made it over to Gilmoss

Any idea why 27748 managed a trip from Lancaster to Blackpool arriving around 17:30 ish?

Does Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire currently have a shortage of Double Deckers?

25224 Worked the next 42 Lancaster to Blackpool on the same day due to a breakdown. It arrived at Blackpool at 1820 departed at 1825 with me driving.

Brand new buses for joint Stagecoach/Arriva 685 Carlisle <> Newcastle - that would be 2 for the Stagecoach worked journeys. Arriva planning changes to the buses on their journeys.

"Mr Winters said that the company planned to put new buses on the route within this calendar year, with coach-style seating, seatbelts and wi-fi."

This means the 2 x 61 plate E300 that were ex Workington Lillyhall will be replaced on the route. I believe it was stated somewhere that the 61 plate E300 were an interim measure.

34079 helping out at Morecambe while torrisholme road is closed

Noticed that early today on Service 3D.

According to the notices on the buses the service operates via Owen Road, Torrisholme Road, Penrhyn Road, Morecambe Road, Scale Hall Lane, Torrisholme Road, Slyne Road* to the Bus Station.

*Please note that Slyne Road should read Owen Road, as Slyne Road going away from Town, NOT into Town.

Saw that as I was coming out of Aldi this afternoon. Did a double take thinking "That's a bit short!" I keep forgetting that's how the Darts look these days. When I think of those I think of the ubiquitous Dart in service on the South Coast in the 90's.

Stagecoach boosts UK economy with record £100M orders for new buses and coaches

03 Mar 2014

• Orders for regional bus operations top £545million in last seven years, plus £100million in London since 2010
• Communities in Scotland, England and Wales to benefit from latest orders
• £21million hybrid bus fleet for London and more gas buses for Sunderland
• Entire Oxford Tube fleet to be replaced, plus new coaches for megabus.com in UK and Europe
• More than 350 new vehicles to have wi-fi installed

Stagecoach Group today (Monday 3 March 2014) announced a major boost for British manufacturing as it unveiled record orders worth over £100million in hundreds of new buses and coaches.

Britain's biggest bus and coach operator has placed orders for almost 570 vehicles for the financial year 2014-15, benefitting communities in regions across England, Scotland and Wales. The investment in new greener vehicles also includes a £21million fleet of hybrid electric buses for London and new coaches for the company's expanding megabus.com budget travel service in the UK and Europe.

The vast majority of the new buses and coaches will be produced in the UK. The investment will support hundreds of British manufacturing jobs and smaller businesses in the supply chain who produce key components from drivers' seats and toilets to wheelchair lifts and destination displays*.

It is the largest set of orders ever placed by Stagecoach and is also understood to be the biggest placed by any bus operator in Britain. It takes Stagecoach Group's total orders of new buses and coaches for its regional bus operations in the UK to around £545million in last seven years. The Group has also ordered more than £100million of new vehicles for its London bus operations since buying the business in 2010.

In the next financial year, Stagecoach is investing more than £81million in 495 new vehicles to go into service in local communities outside London, across Scotland, England and Wales. In addition, a £21million fleet of 70 state-of-the-art hybrid buses will be introduced at the Group’s London operations.

All of the new vehicles will be fitted with CCTV while more than 350 will also have wi-fi installed, giving customers free internet access during their journeys.

The latest orders follow an annual competitive tendering process and the first of the new vehicles will be delivered from Spring 2014.

Highlights of the latest investment are:

• More than 420 low-floor double-decker, single-decker, midi and mini buses for Stagecoach regional bus networks in the UK. These include a fleet of 29 next-generation model double deck vehicles for Manchester services and 38 new Gold specification vehicles to go into service across the UK.
• A special consignment of 26 state-of-the-art double-deck coaches to replace the entire existing Oxford Tube fleet.
• 72 cleaner, greener hybrid vehicles to go into operation in London
• A further 23 eco-friendly gas buses for the company’s operations in Sunderland
• A total of 17 new coaches for megabus.com in the UK and Europe as well as inter-urban bus routes in the UK and a further three megabusGold.com sleepercoach vehicles.

All of the new vehicles meet Euro 5 or Euro 6 emissions standards.

Stagecoach is already the UK’s biggest investor in green hybrid electric buses, which produce up to 30% less carbon emissions than standard buses. The company has more than 270 hybrid electric buses already in service across the UK.

Stagecoach Group Chief Executive Martin Griffiths said: “This record investment is a major boost for UK jobs in manufacturing and many other smaller businesses in the supply chain.

"It is also a huge vote of confidence in the future of bus and coach travel in Britain. By investing in quality and continuing to offer the best value travel of any major operator in the UK, we can help people save money, rely less on their cars and use a greener way to access work, health, education and leisure."

Details of the new orders are as follows:

Service disruption Tuesday 4th March
Due to a recent road traffic accident near Lancaster Bus Station, one lane has closed and traffic is building up at the A6 Chapel Street junction. The nature of its location means that all bus services operating into and out of Lancaster City Centre can expect delays until the roads reopen.

Is this the reason why the 1610 (service 55A) to The Kellets, and the 1640 (service 55) to Warton, did not operate ?, Also the 1625 (service 555) left at 1645, leaving about 20 passengers behind, due to having a full standing load.

The 2014 Lakes Connection booklet is online on the Stagecoach website.

Improvements for this year include:
*Improved timetable on 77A giving 6 journeys per day Monday - Saturday rather than 4 journeys. Timetable improved so most journeys on 77/77A leave Keswick at xx30.
*78 Monday-Friday school day timetable is timetabled to run hourly straight through the day, no longer missing a journey while the driver has his/her break. Weekends and school holidays are timetabled to run half hourly all day plus earlier journeys at 0745 and 0845 (Mon-Sat).
*508 has an improved timetable, with the Penrith starters now starting in Carlisle (Belle Vue and Kingstown). PVR now 3, with 2 buses running from Carlisle and 1 from Kendal. 508 no longer runs to Bowness.
*555 Saturday and Mon-Fri school summer holiday Keswick - Kendal journeys extend to Lancaster via the M6.
*599 Timetable improvements, split as Low Season (every 30 minutes) and High Season (every 20 minutes). The quiet school day period in April/May has been included in the Low Season, while the bulk of September is now in High Season. All weekend journeys are included in High Season until the end of the Summer season (2nd November).
*755 Service extended to Bowness via Windermere. Additional morning Morecambe - Kendal journey on Saturday and Sunday. The 0930 start at Heysham will instead start at Lancaster Uni (Alexandra Park) at 0835, running via Lancaster and Morecambe Road, College to Heysham. Similarly the last journey currently terminating at Heysham will continue to Lancaster and Uni.
*X5 The "hourly" Workington - Keswick X5 is running again on Sundays, but will run 4th May - 28th September rather than just over the school holiday.

Stagecoach E400 demonstrator 80022 in a gold colour scheme seen in Piccadilly Gardens ,Manchester on Friday.
22180 also broke down in clouds of smoke and a burning smell from the engine with the driver saying the coolant warning light was on.

A fitter came in around 30 minutes with a replacement bus (22179) and the errant 22180 was still parked up an hour later awaiting rescue!

Lots of single deck MAN's parked up in a compound next to Stockport Bus station yesterday, are they withdrawn or just not used at weekends?
