Back to topic, what O/T's are running in the lakes this year, any Atlantians or Olies left or is it all the recently deroofed Tridants?↲

Just the Tridents. 17012-17016 and 17221 on 599, 17217 and 17277 on 78.

Ouch. Hope driver makes a ful recovery. A profile of the road coming up to Easter certainly isnt helpful. What generally deputizes on Transcumbria?

It's normally the old Jonckheeres that cover, but MAN Enviros get on there as well.

Carlisle's 34692 has been running from Lillyhall for the past few days, replaced now by 34704.
The first of Carlisle's new Enviro200s have been built and should be delivered soon.

What are they going to be used on? Replacing some of the older City Darts?

How many are due for CE?

41, to replace the old MAN ALX300s and Darts on city services. There's also 2 E300s with coach seats for the 685, and a Solo SR Slimline for 77/77A. The Solo will be M900 though, M880 was the old "classic" Solo.

From the order thread:
27141 – 27142 Enviro 300 for Carlisle.

37086 – 37126 Enviro 200D for Carlisle.

47921 Optare Solo M880 SL for Carlisle.

Meresyside & South Lancashire have:

27113 – 27116 Enviro 300 for Preston.

27143 – 27156 Enviro 300 for Gilmoss.

37127 – 37129 Enviro 200D for Preston.

47922 – 47923 Optare Solo M880 SL for Preston.

Went past Willowholme depot this evening. At least 4 new E200 visible.

RXL with another behind in the main part of the depot - unable to see if there were any more to the side of them.

RXR and another on jacks. RXR had a fleet number on it.

Where are the two 61 plate 300s from CE going? Are LL due a few 05 Darts to see off the S reg alx300s?

Had a comment on flickr about this. Apparently 1 of the 60 reg E300 (27766/67) will return to Lillyhall with quite a few darts to replace 20918 & possibly all of the B10M Jonckheeres & S/V reg Alx300s.

On anothrr note spotted Carlisle dart 34704 operating obm a Whitehaven Circular 2 service today.

Although related to Pennine Motor Services, this concerns mainly Stagecoach, but mods, feel free to duplicate this post in the Pennine thread.

Stagecoach Cumbrian and North Lancs have confirmed to me, via e-mail this morning, that their operation of Ingleton outstation, and route 80 from there to Lancaster, is unaffected by the decision by Pennine to close. In fact, the operations manager at Lancaster says that Pennine is ceasing to run buses, but the property side of the business is unaffected, and so the outstation will carry on as normal.

Hi
The new 200s at Carlisle are indeed being branded along the sides, they appear to be large different coloured triangles in two shades, large darker shade in the centre of the triangle with lighter shade on the sides of the triangle, Carlisle is written through the middle of the darker shade, then along the top edge of triangle above windows and just below the roof line in the lighter shade the destination i.e. 60 which is "blue" and the route listed as Carlton Clinic - City Centre - infirmary - Stansfield Park. Hope this helps. Oh by the way two more have arrived YX 14 RXU/V

Hi
Today at Willowholme was a B10 parked at the side of the depot looked like it had just been sprayed white since there was no fleet numbers on it and registration plate on the front was missing, the seats and cushions have been removed but stacked up inside. Just wondered if anyone can identify it and know why it's been strayed all over white. Parked next to it also looking like it had also just been resprayed is 22269 with Stagecoch in West Cumbria decals on it

Cumbrian bus firm had no consent to operate from town stop

A coach company is to axe three busy summer services with the loss of four jobs.

Wigton-based Reays claim they have been forced to remove the services from their timetable amid a row over access to Keswick’s only bus station.

Supermarket chain Booths, which owns the station, says access is being refused because of road safety concerns and because Reays has never had consent to operate buses from the stop.

Once the design of a layby used by buses is redone, the store chain says it may consider giving other operators access.

Reays says the 555R provided the only opportunity to use an open-top bus to Bowness from Keswick.

It was due to resume service on April 5 after its winter shutdown.

The two other services operate a summer timetable, featuring open-top double-decker vehicles on the 78R from Kesdwick to Seatoller, and a specially-adapted bus with bike rack on the 77R Keswick to Cockermouth via the Honister Pass.

Chris Reay, Reays’ managing director said: “We wanted to carry on running all three services after they proved so popular with passengers last year, but unfortunately Booths have refused us permission to use the bus station.

“Having attended an on-site meeting with Booths and county council and highways representatives, including local county councillor Andrew Lysser, we have sadly had to withdraw our registration for all three services.

“No-one has been able to provide us with any viable alternative location for a bus stop in Keswick.”

Mr Lysser had said at a Keswick Town Council meeting last week that Reays had said it would be dropping its services from the town this year.

He said: “They can’t find anywhere to operate from. We went around with them, investigating an alternative which is not a Stagecoach drop-off point. Booths are looking at re-drafting their car park plan and it doesn’t include Reays.

“It is disappointing. Competition is good and we could do with cheaper buses, but they have to have somewhere to operate commercially from and we couldn’t get a consensus on that. It is a long protracted story.”

The supermarket and car park are leased by Booths from local businessman Keith Graham.

Booths said in a statement: “Stagecoach have been operating bus routes with consent from Booths outside their Keswick store for many years, using the bus layby.

“Reays’ use of the layby has never been authorised, and as a result of this unauthorised use serious congestion has been caused, raising a number of important safety concerns, including a number of near misses.

“Booths have acted with the full knowledge of the Traffic Commissioner to prevent the continued unauthorised use whilst the business reviews the operation and safety of the bus layby.

“Booths have commissioned a redesign of the facility and have started work to improve the layby. Following these improvement works, Booths will consider expanding the use to other operators.”

Carlisle to get £4m new Stagecoach bus fleet
By Julian Whittle Business editor

Published at 11:40, Wednesday, 30 April 2014

Carlisle is getting a fleet of brand new buses thanks to a £4 million investment by Stagecoach.

Keith Little, of Cumbria County Council, with Stagecoach’s Nigel WinterThe first six of 41 new single-deck British-built ADL E200 buses entered service this week.

They feature greener engines and a striking new look, colour-coded for each route, with low-platform entry to help elderly and disabled passengers, and mums with prams.

The first buses were launched by Councillor Keith Little, the Cumbria County Council cabinet member for transport, at Carlisle Racecourse.

Nigel Winter, managing director of Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “This is the largest ever investment in new buses for Carlisle.

“It represents an unprecedented upgrade in the quality of vehicles being provided to passengers in the city.

“We believe that our investment will encourage more people to try the bus and persuade them that travelling by bus not only makes environmental sense but is also a cost-effective means of transport.”

The buses will enter service over the coming weeks on the 60 from Sandsfield Park to Carleton Clinic, 61/61A Morton to Harraby, 62/62A Kingmoor Park to Morton, 67/68 Upperby to Belle Vue, and 76 St Ann’s to Durranhill.

Mr Little said: “I welcome the investment in improved local bus services and look forward to seeing the benefits that it will bring passengers.”

The first buses have arrived in time for Catch the Bus Week, which runs until May 4, and sees Stagecoach join forces with the sustainable transport group Greener Journeys to promote the benefits of bus use.

It is giving away an iPad and bus tickets as part of the campaign.

The company is also teaming up with the News & Star to find ‘Carlisle’s Heroes’.

Nominations for your Carlisle Hero can be submitted to a panel of judges. Winners get a year’s free bus travel and will be featured as a Carlisle Hero on the back of the new buses.

Full details of the competition will appear in the News & Star soon.

The new fleet for Carlisle is part of a £75m investment in buses and coaches announced by Stagecoach last year.

It is buying 430 vehicles to serve its operations across the UK and Europe.

Stagecoach’s profitability remains “satisfactory”, the company told investors yesterday.

Like-for-like revenues were up 4.8 per cent in its UK regional bus operations for the 48 weeks to March, while rail franchises saw 4.5 per cent growth.

Virgin Rail, Stagecoach’s joint venture with Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, which operates the West Coast Main Line through Cumbria, saw 5.9 per cent growth.

Stagecoach is due to report results for the full year to April in June.

Do us a favour here in Fife jonesy, when you return from Malta, bring the sun back with you!

On a more serious note though, regarding the X2 from Liverpool to Southport, the Merseyrail timetable mentions that valid rail tickets are also accepted on the X2. Is that purely when the Northern line to Southport is out of action, or all the time, and if it's the latter, is that only when the person has a season ticket, or can a cheap day return be used?
