This LNWR line ran from Stalybridge to Denton with just two intermediate stations at Dukinfield & Ashton and at Hooley Hill. Since "Nostalgia" is part of the title of this thread, I wondered if anyone has any information as to the passenger services that used this particular line and when they ceased to run.

I only have the figures for c.1910, but I believe Stockport-Stalybridge trains, 11 a day each way, Monday-Saturday only.

Geordie back from exile.
I have the times from 1922 and there were 11 a day Mon-Sat from Stockport - Stalybridge and 12 the other way. No Sunday service

Hooley Hill 0639 0730 0853 1045 1146 1245 1353 1500 1800 1837 1950
Dukinfield 0644 0735 0857 1049 1150 1250 1357 1504 1805 1842 1955

Dukinfield 0624 0724 0759 0901 0932 1014 1224 1549 1644 1801 1904 2116
Hooley Hill 0628 0728 0803 0905 0936 1018 1228 1552 1647 1805 1908 2120

All apart from those in BOLD were through services or at least portions from Blackpool Central, Manchester Exchange, Liverpool Lime St, and even Euston carrying on to the likes of Leeds, Bradford Exchange, Hull and Newcastle. (And of course vice versa). Those in BOLD are just between Stockport and Stalybridge and vv.

The timetable layout in the 1922 Bradshaw's is nowhere near as clear and concise as today's timetables so it is very difficult to say what portions went where and where they joined/split.

I did look at expanding the timetable above but there are just too many portions from here, there and everywhere to list clearly.

I would like to thank MattE2010 and flymo for their help on this matter, as looking at railways in the Tameside area, I now have a better picture than before.

I too once possessed a Bradshaws' book of the early part of the 20th century, but I now realise that it was never returned from loan (five years ago!!).
