Edinburgh Waverley is another station where the majority of services depart westwards rather than eastwards.

Haymarket has a similar platform layout and is also the next station to a Network Rail managed station in a major UK city.

Salhouse is also a station on a branch line going to the cosat named after an animal. (Tarka cf Bittern.)

I am usually quite good on naming obscure railway branch lines, but I confess to be flummoxed by the name of one that led to the Centre of Science and Technical Studies (COSAT) that was named after an animal...:oops:

Hoveton and Wroxham was also opened by the Great Eastern Railway in 1874
