Ray Moorcroft FRIBA was an architect in the London Midland Region of British Rail in the 1960s and 1970s. Whilst there, he designed both Birmingham International and Northampton stations.

Causeland is also a station on the line where trains to Looe are 'locked in' to the Looe branch so freight trains can access Moorswater.

To accommodate the increasing number of trains, Bristol Temple Meads station was expanded in the 1870s by Francis Fox and again between 1930 and 1935 by Percy Emerson Culverhouse. The same architect had also been responsible for the rebuilding of Newton Abbot station in the late 1920s.
