In the near future, a new station will open between Reading and Mortimer, called "Reading Green Park". It's scheduled to open by Summer 2019, however construction hasn't started yet. Other stations yet to open in 2019 include Whitechapel, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Silvertown and Canary Wharf as part of the Elizabeth line/Crossrail.

Some Northern Rail local services that should normally terminate at Barrow-in-Furness continue to Millom.

New Mills Central also has Northern rail services, and has a limited-hours booking office but no ticket machine.

Dean is also a station on the Wessex Mail Line.
Despite being operated by Great Western Railway, none actually stop here. All services stopping here are South Western Railway. Instead of this, GWR operate hourly regional services between Portsmouth Harbour and Cardiff Central via Bristol Temple Meads, with some limited services to Brighton and Great Malvern.
