Edmund Cooter was Station Master at Hatfield between 1856 and 1866, following the same appointment at Hornsey.

Biggleswade station was used as a Red Star Parcel office but this was closed in the mid 1980s when the service was relocated to Stevenage station.

Haymarket station was redeveloped in the early 2010s as part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP); Edinburgh Gateway station was opened in December 2016 as part of the same Programme.

The first section of the Bristol and Exeter Railway was opened on 14th June 1841. This included the stations at Bridgwater and Nailsea, although the latter is now known as Nailsea and Backwell.

Swale is the last station on the mainland before the Sheerness Line crosses onto the the Isle of Sheppey; the first station after the bridge is Queenborough.

Shepreth is on King's Lynn arm of the Great Northern Route from London. The line divides at Hitchin and goes to Peterborough, passing through Sandy on the way.
