The crossing gates at Ty Croes are still hand worked by the crossing keeper; the Grade II listed signal box was formerly a block post, but no longer works as such, as the block section now runs from Gaerwen to Valley.

Albrighton is on the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury via Wellington Line. Apart from the stations at each end, all the stations on the line have two platforms, with the exception of Wellington, which has three.

Haymarket railway station was opened as the original terminus of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway in 1842. In 1894, covered platforms were added to the station by James Carswell, who was also responsible for the rebuilding of Helensburgh Central station, which was completed after his death in 1897.

Cardross is on the Helensburgh Central "arm" of the North Clyde Line; Renton is on the "arm" that goes to Balloch.

The western end of the City of Glasgow Union Railway left the Glasgow and Paisley Joint Line at Shields Junction; the latter's western terminus was Paisley Gilmour Street.

Mobberley Plumley is an adjoining station which retains many of its original features and buildings, although these have been converted for residential or commercial use.
