Rishton is also a station on the East Lancashire Line which only has step-free access to one of it's two platforms.

Between 14th May 2012 and 10th July 2013, Huncoat was a request stop; Pleasington was another station that became a request stop at the same time, but hasn't been changed back.

New Lane is also an unstaffed station on the Manchester to Southport Line, although it does have a ticket machine, whereas Bescar Lane does not.

The station building at Ely was designed by Francis Thompson, who was also responsible for the station at Flint.

Abergele and Pensarn station was the location of two LMS Caravans (Camping Coaches) in 1935 and 1936 followed by three caravans from 1937 to 1939. During Coronation Week in 1937, around fifty vehicles were moved to the London area to provide accommodation for parties wishing to witness the Coronation. In the usual LMS way they were sited in colonies; the final disposition of the coaches is uncertain but one of the planned locations was to be Rickmansworth station.

Meols Cop station is only accessible via stairs, so there is no disabled access; the same applies to Swinton station.

The NRE app confirms the platforms at Swinton (S. Yorks) are all accessible, while Swinton (Manchester) is the one with access only by stairs.

Salwick has an island platform layout, which historically served only the slow lines of a four-track main line.

Layton station was named Bispham for many years before being re-named by the LMS in 1938.

Another station which changed its name to something completely different from the longstanding original (West Weybridge) is Byfleet & New Haw.

The Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway station building at Croy has been demolished and replaced with a modern, glass and steel building designed by IDP Architects of Glasgow. The same firm has designed and carried out a programme of refurbishment works at Gleneagles station.

The Waterloo to Reading Line and the Chertsey Branch Line join at Virginia Water with the platforms at the junction; one of the three stations on the latter is at Addlestone.
