Bebington currently has Class 508 EMUs operating on Merseyrail. Class 508s have previously been on London suburban services and with (Connex) South Eastern stopping services, such as London Bridge to Tunbridge Wells.

Drigg was visited by Paul Merton in his television programme Paul Merton’s Secret Stations; another station visited during the same programme was Penally in Pembrokeshire.

Liverpool Lime Street was one of a few to be awarded 5 stars in the Britain's 100 Best Railway Stations, published in 2017. Inside it, Britain's number 1 railway station was Birmingham New Street.

The platforms at New Cross are lettered rather than numbered to avoid confusion with those at New Cross Gate by staff who worked at both stations before privatisation of the stations in 1997.

The East London line used to terminate here until 2010 when the London Overground extended services to Crystal Palace and West Croydon.

The Addiscombe branch line used to have shuttles between Elmers End and Addiscombe until closure on 30 May 1997. This branch was replaced by the Croydon Tramlink. That exact day, and also replaced by the Croydon Tramlink, the West Croydon to Wimbledon branch also closed.
