I was in Harrow on the hill yesterday and i noticed that a few of the signs on the Chiltern platforms still said British rail on them , i know the Bakerloo line platforms at Marylebone have a BR sign too.
Are there any other stations with BR era signage still up and if so which stations. (photos attached of outdated signage at Harrow on the hill)

The tube station at vauxhall has an exit sign to "British Rail"

Essex Road has Network Southeast signage on the platforms (lots of it), not quite BR but similar

Stratford on Avon has BR era lighting with the station name on as have a few others mentioned on another thread a couple of years ago.

Marylebone Bakerloo line platforms still have "British Rail" on the bottom of the escalators, although there were a few more signages that have been vinylled over more recently with National Rail. I also believe Balham's Northern line platforms have British Rail still visible under the vinyl.

Then there are the numerous Network SouthEast signs still left over dotted about in the South East region!

You can’t easily tell, but Bath Spa has illuminated running-in boards that arrived (I think) around the InterCity 21 relaunch in 1987.

One that I drive past often that somehow escaped the change all these years.

Remember that the ‘BR sign’ is also used to denote National Rail and much signage that features the double arrows dates from much more recently than the BR era. Although Marylebone station concourse still displays some original Network SouthEast signage.

By BR sign i mean a sign that is from pre privatisation with obvious branding (NSE , Intercity , Regional railways ect) eg post 6 or one my post of the sign Harrow on the Hill where it explicitly states British rail

Network North West branding is still kicking around at some stations in Lancashire including Preston.

I'm not convinced that sign at Harrow is from pre-privatisation. The London Underground referred to main line operations as 'British Rail' long after privatisation merely to differentiate between LU services and main line services to make it easy for passengers to distinguish between the two.

'Regional Railways' sign still on the main concourse at Manchester Victoria - despite all the rebuilding / refurbishment that has gone on all around it!

Goostrey, on the station buiding approach side, still says 'British Rail Goostrey'. The building is now looked after by a 'Friends' group so is in safe hands.

Not quite BR, this Connex promotion is still on the bridge at Penge High Street.
Image shows blue and yellow sign advertising trains from Penge West to London Bridge and West Croydon in the Blue and Yellow colours of Connex.

Definitely not BR, a subway in Belfast up until my last visit there (2022) had a sign advertising Queens Quay Railway Station. Which closed in 1976.
This is from Google Street View in 2018 - it's very blurry, sadly.

A large Red Star Parcels sign can still be seen on the upper deck of Euston as you approach from the north.

Not sure whether it's still there, but when Paddington was remodeled to re-site the taxi rank and old parcels ramp was opened up, to show a sign saying how many BRUTES it was safe to tow.

Coventry still has a large number of 1960s vintage direction signs in the original rail alphabet.

I think the signage at Harrow just - just - pips privatisation, but I'm not in a position to check at the moment. The current LU signage style was developed in the late 80s with a large-scale updating across the Combine. The other enamel sign picture is definitely pre-privatisation, quite possibly from the station re-build in the late 40s. There is still some (not publicly viewable) signage at Harrow that references LNER...!

British Rail was definitely used by LU well into the 90s, although a lot of this would have begun its life prior to privatisation. That said, the vast majority (and there's still quite a lot of it out there, particularly on the Met Main) does pre-date privatisation.

God I cannot wait for all these hideous Avanti-branded station signs to disappear, I hope they get the new RA2 treatment sooner rather than later.

Manchester Oxford Road still has the name Oxford Road and a large red double arrow logo near the steps in the car park and a small overhead sign at the bottom of the stairs near the Salisbury pub that also has the GMPTE logo also. Obviously they wont be there much longer if the refurbishment goes ahead

Quite surprised the enamel signs at Harrow on the Hill have lasted so long, I'm surprised they haven't been taken to the transport museum.
Harrow on the Hill is the only tfl station I know of to still have enamel signs that old and there are only 2 of them in harrow.

(Photo attached is of the other enamel sign at Harrow)

There are signs that reference LNER at one of the Sudbury Chiltern stations , pretty sure they are replicas though and not originals.

I know it's not a station, and is not British Rail, but I took a picture years ago (so can't find it right now) of a sign in Croydon instructing people not to trespass on the railway. From the Southern Railway.

Be a sad day when this bridge at Bristol Temple Meads gets repainted. It’s held up pretty well..

Sadly the sign by the Salisbury has been replaced by a new Bee Network plank (in RA2 though, happily) but the original GMPTE plank still stands proud on top of the roundhouse!

Photos show the new Bee Network branded "Manchester Oxford Road" plank by the Salisbury pub and the earlier 1990s GMPTE version with the original Wavy M logo and double arrow.

I'm on have never noticed these before

I couldn't agree more, it's taken Avanti and age to rebrand the stations and most of them haven't had much done. And it's the most dull boring and inspiring colour scheme. Good riddance I say

Ah the good old British Rail station signs. Standard font black lettering on white. Before privatisation, they would be good for at least 25 years. Then every few years the franchise holders would change their signs.

Hull paragon definitely still has BR era direction signage, written in the original rail alphabet and definitely from before the 90’s.

The removal of a shop sign in Kendal last year made this one visible again. Probably gone by now, I'll have a look next time I'm up that way.

At Congleton just off platform 1 there is a station name sign in lovely original rail alphabet, black on white. It's strange at Congleton as there are quite a few new signs in rail alphabet 2 but look carefully and there's 1 or 2 original rail alphabet ones still there.

My own photo below shows the Congleton station name sign in original rail alphabet, black on white, as described above. Looks a bit worn condition but still good to see.
