One summer Saturday in August 1974 I once changed trains at March to pick up a through train from Yarmouth to Manchester Piccadilly via the GN/GE joint line; I had a rather long wait as it was over 30 minutes late and lost more time subsequently. The class 31 diesel appeared to be underpowered given the length of the train...
Ahem. That's an inherent feature of their "charm".
I had a 31 on load 13 from Norwich to Grassmoor on the Yarmouth - Newcastle/Edinburgh back in 1981. Pedestrian indeed.

Meanwhile, back on topic, I'll offer Marsden, Stockton, and Middlesbrough,

Exeter St Davids, have changed there many times but have never left the station, as I always go to Central when visiting Exeter due to it being well more Central :D

Also have never left St Erth and Par stations, due to only alighting at both places for the St Ives and Newquay lines respectively

Looking at my list, there's about 300 out of the 960 or so stations that I have 'used' where I never left the premises. Mostly from my my early days but I still get the odd one nowadays if I am passing through and it's convenient. For example, I finally ticked off the lesser stations between Skipton and Shipley last year. I have been holidaying in the area for 20 years but never got round to it. Last year I caught an earlier train than expected, had to change from the Settle train to the Bradford train and had time to spare so I got on with the job.

On looking at the list, I see Georgemas Junction is also on there, from the loco hauled days when the train split into Wick and Thurso portions. If that counts as 'changing trains'.

For all the train travel I’ve done I genuinely can’t think of any stations that I’ve changed at, that I haven’t left. The closest I can think of is Euston underground to national rail (but that doesn’t really count as I still had to touch out at the underground barriers and then enter the national rail barriers)

Pretty sure my only 3 are Dalmuir, Dumbarton Central and Dumbarton East. I'm really not a big user of the train though as buses work out better for the journeys I make so these 3 were maybe 4/5 years ago now. Can't think of any others

Also sure all 3 were to switch onto trains to or from Helensburgh Central too

The strangest one for me has been Inverkeithing, where I had to transfer from an Aberdeen-Edinburgh service onto a Virgin XC service which originated from Dundee. I was much younger and naive and went solely on what the tickets said. I took the advice of the Virgin conductor who said in future to simply change in Dundee for that journey!

I'm surprised at the number of reasonably sized, city-centre stations being mentioned - e.g. Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh. Unless I'm on an Advance ticket or have a really tight connection I'm always tempted to stick my head outside and have a quick look-see.

Georgemass Junction
How does one end up changing trains here?

I changed at Inverkeithing without leaving last year: one 68 from Waverley for the other one back. I thought about going for a pint, but couldn't spot anywhere close to the station. Did the same a few years ago, but that was a 26 for a 37.

How does one end up changing trains here?

in the 1980s the train split with a portion going to Thurso and one to Wick. I would get off the train and photograph and wait for the return. Simples
