£21.15 advances both ways will no doubt be the best option.

Depart Stevenage 07.27 arr. 10.39 29th May

Depart Newcastle 14.58 arr. 17.58 30th May

Total £42.30.

There are later departures on both days that are the same price.

You can save money on 142094's option by using the following connections outward:
Stevenage 8:12 to York 10:32 £12.30 Advance single
York 10:34 to Newcastle 11:43 £5.55 Advance single
So £17.85 outward. (Change at Peterborough but same train Peterborough-Newcastle)

Book at www.eastcoast.co.uk for these prices.

If your happy to leave Newcastle on the 30th May around 1800, then getting back to Stevenage will only cost £12.65.

Newcastle dep 1758 - Stevenage 2023 (York 1853-1855)

£7.05 EC Advance Newcastle - York
£5.60 EC Advance York - Stevenage

book again at East Coast.

It seems the 5 pound fare from York to Stevenage has now increased to over 20 pounds in a few hours - very bizarre!

Fares like that won't last long, if they are cheap, people will book and snap that price up.

Yup, need to book as soon as possible to get the best prices. Those splits are quite good value as well.
