Not just the Midlands, here in North Wales, just as the article points out, we now cannot buy a SVR to London on the 1st train of the day. This is due to the fact that some over Offa's Dyke, have abused the system, where fares from North Wales were considerably cheaper than those from Chester and Crewe. So they have "started" their journey from stations like Shotton and Flint, whilst the truth is they joined the Pendo from Chester etc.

This is not a rant at the English at all :D
In fact I thought it was very unfair that people across the border had to pay much more, whilst we got a better deal.

And just to let you know, the local paper found out that only 20 "super-advance" tickets were available per station on the coast on the 0532 HHD-EUS service, meaning once these were gone, it was only the Open Returns that were available for purchase!
