Super off peak return Southampton Leeds

Travelling Southampton Airport to Leeds via London with super off peak return, but want to return from Leeds via Manchester, with BOJ in Manchester from Friday evening till Sunday.
Is the ticket valid via Manchester anyway, and if so can I break journey as indicated?
If not, obviously I could use the return from Brum to Southampton, so what ticket would be cheapest for the Leeds, Manchester Brum journey?
Or is there a better alternative that an expert can suggest?

Yes, it's valid via Manchester on any route you can trace on the combination of maps BW+BM+MN, or RM+MN. You can break your journey at any intermediate station via which where your ticket is valid to travel (e.g. as shown on the above maps).

Yes, but you haven't told us if you still want to go via London of if you meant that only applied on your outward journey?

For example if you want to go via Manchester and London, a Southampton Airport Parkway to Dewsbury Super Off Peak Return is valid on the outward portion Southamport Airport Parkway > London > Leeds where you may break your journey. The return portion is then valid to commence at Dewsbury and travel via Manchester and London to Southampton, if you wish to. You may need to make your own way from Leeds to Dewsbury (walk on single from £4.20).

If you were intending to use, for example, a Manchester to Southampton Airport Parkway through train then it would definitely be fine with a ticket from Leeds.
