What's the nearest shop to your residence that you've never been in? Assuming that Covid related closures will reopen.

Mine is the opticians on the corner of my road because I've never needed glasses (yet).

That got me thinking...
There’s a farm shop up the road that my other half uses but I’ve never been in there.

Ignoring estate agents, tattoo parlours and nail bars, it would be the kitchen desiign (their spelling) shop diagonally opposite the local library

Why have they spelt it like that? :)

Ignoring the Hair, Nails and Beauty Salon, the next nearest shop I've not been in sells and repairs phones and computers. None of my phones has ever broken and if one of my PCs fails I will either fix it myself, or buy a replacement online.

Technically it's a women's hairdressers about 5 minutes walk away, followed by the Chinese takeaway 2 doors further down, but excluding those 2 I think its the florists in the village centre about 15 minutes walk away (but considering I have lived in the same house since birth other than for uni it is possible that I have been in there as a young child and cannot remember doing so). For the flat I lived in for 2 years at uni there was a corner shop and a halal butchers literally across the road which I never visited as undesirable locals were always hanging around outside and Aldi was within 10 minutes walk meaning I never felt the need.

For me, it'd have to be the shop directly across the road from me specialising in wooden flooring. I've never had any reason to go in there, and funnily enough I've never actually witnessed anyone go in there! :D

I never seem to visit the pubs which are closest to my house.

When growing up in Wigan, the nearest commercial establishment of any type to home was a pub.
I never went in - originally because all the neighbours drank there, so they might remember I wasn't quite old enough to be there.
I left home at age 18 and whenever I went back to visit my family, I never bothered going for a drink at that pub - not by any conscious decision, just never got around to it. It's now an Indian restaurant, so maybe I should try it next time.

At university, the closest pub was a well-known haunt of rugby & rowing types.
I walked in once, decided it wasn't for me and left without buying a drink, never to return.

Winding forward to today, we have a pub just down the street, and again it's the closest commercial premises apart from a women's hairdresser.
My wife & I did have a meal in the dining room once 16 years ago (the first night we moved into the house, because we hadn't unpacked the crockery, pots & pans), which was "average", but not too bad. I've never been back since, even for a quick beer in the bar, despite often walking past that pub's door en-route to other boozers two, three or four times distant.

It depends on which way I go from the house. Walking towards town will bring me a cluster of different shops, at a major road junction in town. Out of these shops I've never been in the Pizza Hut outlet, the hair & beauty supply shop, the Biltong seller nor the fishing tackle shop.

Mines is probably the village shop in the village a couple of miles away. Although I only really pass through that village anyway so I’ve never had the need to stop.

Nearest shop to me is a newsagent, walk past it most days to and from one of our local stations; never go in there!

A couple of convenience stores near the doctor's surgery (mile and a half away) are the nearest. They aren't on the way to anywhere else so never stopped there.

In the town centre the toy shop, the Polish grocer and the music shop.

I was intrigued. Assuming it is Aston Desi***, a search shows shop fronts with Aston Desiign (blue background) and Aston Designs (red background). Looks like the same building frontage. Their website shows 'Designs'. Maybe the signwriter ran out of 's's or they employed someone on the cheap?

This shows lockdown is getting to me.

My nearest shop I haven't been in advertises 'everything for a party' (provided you want fancy dress, helium filled balloons, inflatables, face paint). Somehow I have never felt the need!

In my youth, for 21 years, I lived next door but six to a church which I never set foot in as I was of a different religious persuasion. But we did play in its grounds. I think it is now an outreach centre or something like that.

My nearest shop was, for decades, a lingerie shop - now it's a shop selling ghastly (to me) figurines - so knickers to knick-knacks in a generation.: lol:

Is it perhaps the same owner whose tastes have changed as they've gotten older? :?:

There's a second-hand furniture shop round the corner from me that I've never been in, or wanted to go in, as I don't need any plywood wardrobes or stained coffee tables. Also a ladies hairdressers that seems to cater for over 60s that has a window full of cheap second hand knick-knacks, including this week a china cat that is also a teapot (£1), and several teddy-bears' picnics (£1 - £2.50).

Theres a ladies only hairdressers near me if that counts as a shop. Otherwise I've been in every shop in the village, even if it was 20 years ago in some cases.

There are two pubs within a minute's walk of my house that I've never been to - other than that a "white goods" appliances store - all the appliances I need I've bought online or were already fitted when I moved in

My nearest shop is Asda, which I must have used over 1000 times.

I've never been in the next nearest, Greggs.

I’ve not been to most of the shops in our local town. I think the closest (excluding a dentist) are a charity shop and a bridal dress shop, neither of which I have visited.
