Dear Members,

2011 has been an extremely successful year for RailUK Forums. We have seen unprecedented growth in the number of active members and the number of posts being made across the forum. However, we always like to hear from you and we recently undertook our annual satisfaction survey. Your feedback was extremely valuable and we really appreciate the time you took to tell us what you thought. Due to the large number of members who took part we cannot respond personally to all comments, but we would like to provide some feedback on some of the most regularly raised points:

1. A lot of people still aren’t aware of the large variety of different themes which can be applied to make your experience of RailUK Forums that little bit more interesting. While browsing the forum, in the bottom left hand corner of your screen you will see a dropdown menu. From here you can customise the site with one of our many themes – feel free to give one a try today! We have listened to your feedback and will be looking at introducing some new themes during 2012. We will also investigate a solution for mobile users who wish to switch between the mobile and desktop versions of the site.

2. We received a lot of feedback about how the forum is organised and in response we will be making a number of changes to the different sections of the forum over the coming weeks – watch this space!

3. From time to time, the moderators do have to intervene in disagreements on the forum. We are currently working to improve the consistency of our actions and plan to introduce a revised set of forum rules shortly – we will be looking for your feedback in the coming weeks. We will also be making it easier for you to respond to moderating decisions. However, there are two ways in which you could help us out: if you feel a member is likely to be argumentative towards you, you can add them to your ignore list in the User Control Panel, which can be found under ‘Settings and Options’ - their posts will be hidden from your view so that you can browse the forum with more enjoyment; alternatively, if you see a post which you feel is inappropriate, then we would encourage you to report it to us using the report button

, displayed in the bottom left hand corner of every post. Additionally, please refrain from quoting or publicly responding to a post that you are reporting. This will help us to resolve issues more quickly and efficiently.

On behalf of all the forum staff, I’d like to wish you a very happy new year. I hope 2012 is successful for you!
