Taken in September 2018, still some way to go Photo copied from Carl Watson's site
This car is currently undergoing component recovery however, so it will make little to no difference to the grand scheme of things. There should be a completed 121 and near completed 117 within the works now, with this former Swanage 117 eventually heading for scrap I believe.
Is it time for this thread to be renamed? It seems unlikely that Swanage will run anything to Wareham in the next few days!
The photo on Carl Watson’s site just next to the one above gives a much more positive impression...
The class 117 dmu is due to return to Swanage from Eastleigh tomorrow (Thursday 2nd Jan) The class 33 is going from Swanage in the morning to collect it .
Any times pls. Tried RTT and got an unactivated Wareham to Swanage service
heres the full ones
swanage to eastleigh
eastleigh to swanage
How many carriages will the 117 have?
Have the DMUs had the droplight screwed up or bars fitted to the windows?
Unconfirmed report that the move might not take place due to an issue with the DMU exhaust clearing station platforms
Confirmed RTT showing operation cancelled at train operator's request
just seen on rtt it says cancelled due to train operators request, shame would have been an interesting spot
hopefully someone posts if its to run at a later date
I understand the NR computer had declared the movement out of gauge in the Brockenhurst area. May be purely as a Class 117 will have not have been physically gauged for anywhere recently although I do not know. I assume it was not an issue with the Class 33 as that has been through there a few times in the past year.
That's a shame, hope it gets resolved soon.
From another forum apparently it is a recently installed cabinet that is causing the issue.
The first DMU car arrived by road at Norden today, I saw it being propelled into Corfe Castle on their webcam at about 1300hrs by the 08, I believe the other 2 cars will arrive by road at Norden tomorrow and Saturday.
It's good to see progress on this
One of the driving cars arrived about 1630 on the 12th as shown in RH Issue 676 page 20. I understand the donor unit may have also arrived earlier the same day.
I hope the final car will arrive before Dennis.
Interestingly the set is a hybrid formation of DMBS 51356 + TCL 59486 + DMS 51388.
51356 was one of the faded ScotRail livery vehicles that were intended to be used for component recovery, but was found to be in better condition than previously preserved 51346 which has since been cut up. The TCL and DMS vehicles are the two that had previously been used at Swanage.
All 4 cars (the 121 and 117) are now at Corfe Castle - source Swanage Railway unofficial FB page
And test runs/driver training between Norden and River Frome starts on Friday
From their timetable, it would appear that the Green and Purple days are when the Wareham services will run, 5 days a week (Not Mondays or Friday) 6 May to 6 September
Other news is that 55 019 will be the star of the diesel gala and offering driving experience 18 & 19 April, while the gala will now be April 24 to 26.
For the steam gala, October, 73156 from the Great Central will be the visiting loco
Wasn't that last year's visitor?
A demonstration of how unreliable mobile internet is
while I still can connect, it appears that no details of the gala have been decided
