Hi
I am going from swinton Sth York’s to Tamworth on Saturday 22nd February
On national rail planner it says £26 using
A senior rail card I am ok with the price has prefer walk up tickets
But it says using northern and cross country
Trains
There is a EMR train from Sheffield to Derby
Around the same time as the XC can I catch
This one instead then come back with a XC
From Tamworth to derby then derby to Sheffield
Neil

It seems to me that the Railcard £26 tickets are made up of one Advance Single in each direction, priced £11.55 in one direction and £15.05 in the other, a total of £26.60. Advance tickets must be used on the specified train(s).

No. This would need a flexible ticket. The Railcard Off-Peak Return Swinton S Yorks - Tamworth costs £32.75. Mondays to Fridays, it is not valid for trains scheduled to depart after 04:29 and before 09:30. There are no time restrictions on Saturdays, Sundays or bank holidays.

S Yorks, usually
How about the following, off peak - catch any train on a Saturday, apart from you need to be on one that stops at Burton:
Swinton-Sheffield day return £5.80 (£3.85 senior railcard)
Derbyshire Wayfarer (buy from Sheffield ticket office) £13.40 valid as far as Burton on Trent (£6.70 for seniors)
Burton-Tamworth day return £7.40 (£4.90 senior railcard)

The ticket you refer to is the Off peak Return NOT VIA Birmingham. priced at £26 with the railcard discount. The same time restrictions apply.
@John @ home refers to the any permitted ticket which is £32.75
There are no operator restrictions on this so you can use EMR for part of the journey if you wish.
