one that was diverted was a Wimbledon driver and Waterloo guard. The driver didn’t sign the Byfleet curve though apparently.


Do you not think network rail tried to pour as much as they could? There’s only a certain amount of S&T etc etc
I'm sure they do. I was responding to another poster who was suggesting that if an incident happens in the morning it's not so bad as the evening, as everyone can just get their cars out and drive to their destination and back instead. I was just pointing out that a large minority of travellers are not making a train journey to be in the city centre for 9am and leaving the city centre at 5pm.

Quite so. For example at my local station there are a lot of children travelling to school in the couterpeak direction* but even with a reduced frequency you are less likely to be unable to board a service in the couterpeak direction.

* incoming to three popular selective schools near the station with wide catchment areas, and outgoing to neighbouring boroughs by local kids who didn't pass the entrance exams for the local schools.
