Hi everyone,

I was wondering how long the SWR medical usually takes?

I have a booking for 2pm, and I'm looking to book a train back home at 4:30pm, do you think that's enough time or does it normally take longer than an hour?

Cheers

Depends what role you're having a medical for. If it's a non safety critical one you'll easily be in and out within an hour! Not sure how long a safety critical one would take, probably a couple hours at best guess.

Pro tip - large bottle of soft drink an hour or 2 before. Then it's easy to give the urine sample :)

Nooooooo an hour max even for safety critical.

Height and weight, blood pressure, eye sight, hearing, colourblind test, drug and alcohol.

That's it, simple enough! Unless you fail...

thanks for the responses guys!

Hi Ian,

Well done on the job with SWR. May I ask what job you applied for?

Thank you! I applied for the Guard role at Waterloo back in January, original start date was in May this year and finally got a new one for March 2021!

Do SWR give you a ticket to the medical?
If you can, book the next train. The times are tight.
Sometimes they run behind schedule and they discuss everything in depth (even if you’re medically fit)

Congrats! I’ve passed all the tests online for Guard at Guildford- just waiting to see if I’ll be invited to the assessment day.. Looks like it maybe a longer process!
