I must say that 456s will very likely not come back - wanted to clarify as someone mentioned this somewhere in the thread.

Can anyone confirm if 458535 is expected to make a comeback or is withdrawal and/or storage more likely? Thanks in advance

Currently having return to service work and any campaigns and fleet bulletins raised during the time out of traffic will need to be completed prior to depot test runs and that's before any main line running is considered.

Many thanks for the update.

455707 29/03/22 (from Bournemouth 22/04/22)
455713 16/02/22
455714 08/04/22
455727 29/03/22 (from Bournemouth 22/04/22)

All four of these units are back in passenger service today

455707 + 455727 (2J07)
455713 (2D90)
455714 (2K05)

Looks like 10 707 diagrams next week. All pairs, 4 on the all day Shepperton diagrams and 1 on a peak Shepperton via Richmond diagram.

I notice that, except Monday p.m, the peak Shepperton via Richmond diagram has been 458s this week. I guess that because the 707s are now STP diagrams that they will be different from one week to the next. A post in another place says that the next pair for SouthEastern will be transferred on 24-25 June so, if correct, SWR 707s will have to lose a diagram within the next few weeks anyway.

There's only 8 of 12 707s diagrammed this week, down from 10 last week, hence this diagram has given me over to 458s, rather than STP causing the variation as such. Should be down to 6 from Saturday but I'd wait and see...

Thank you for your reply. I guess any further 707 replacement diagrams are now likely to be 455s, which with four returning to service today would seem to tie in with this although I could be adding two plus two and getting five.

Are diagrams publically available anywhere (if so where) or are they only communicated within the industry?

It looks like the return to service of 458535 did not go according to plan?

2C07 0550 Waterloo - Reading was cancelled, and 455872 went ECS to Reading to form 2C18 0742 Reading - Waterloo. I think that this diagram is normally a pair of 450s, but it is an ideal short out and back diagram as predicted by WarrenTManager.

It would appear that the number of 707 diagrams has gone back up to 10 (5 pairs) with the Shepperton peaks diagram being 707s so far this week.

There also appears to be a pair of 455s cycling through the Chessington/Guildford via Cobham diagrams that have been 450s of late, yesterday 2F06 etc, today 2M05 etc

Better luck today (08/06) as 458535 has succesfully worked 2C07

I believe that leaves only 458522 & 458529, of those 458/8 still on-lease, that have not worked so far this year.

Two of the "450" metro diagrams are being operated by 455s today (2M05 etc & 2G12 etc) so that there are 26 pairs of 455 out this morning, which is the most I have noticed on a weekday for quite some time.

Is 458533 458534 still in long term store please. Awaiting withdrawal. Also have any other 458s not been used for a while either?, or a little while. Ie just possible that those 458s, go into store, ie 458s, awaiting a move to conversion for 4 cars. In due course
Thank you.

458534 is not leased by SWR as of late 2021.

458533 & 458534 are both off-lease. The final dates that I recorded them in passenger use was

458533 28/01/22
458534 03/11/21

455913 which had been out of use since 18/03/22, returned to service yesterday.

As there have been quite a few changes recently, it may be worth an update of the list of 458 & 455 that I have not recorded working in passenger service for over a month. This is with the last date that I have noticed them appear on a passenger train on RTT. This date is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate, but it shouldn't be out by more than a day or so.

458509 27/03/22
458511 12/04/22
458513 23/04/22
458519 07/04/22
458522 09/10/21
458529 25/08/21

List excludes Off-lease 458507,517,533,534

455701 03/04/22
455716 10/05/22
455719 27/01/22
455741 12/04/22
455848 29/09/21
455854 21/02/22

List excludes Off-lease and/or Scrapped 455704,726,736,740,847,855.

I wonder how SWR is going to cope with Royal Ascot next week. There are the usual 4 trains per hour between Waterloo and Ascot before and after the races on Tues to Fri and 6 trains per hour on Saturday. All will need to be 8-10 coaches.

Speaking historically, in simple terms stock that was normally off road in Clapham/Wimbledon Park between peaks would normally be diagrammed for Ascot work, albeit late afternoon additionals back UP to Waterloo use to be more of a challenge to cover, given the last (time wise) sets of stock stabled between the peaks would normally be required back at Waterloo by shortly after 6pm for normal service trains, so in theory the latest additionals Up would need to be off Ascot at 5 to 5.30pm in order for the stock to make it's booked evening peak departure. Saturdays there was spare stock available for such things. Things may well have changed these days of course?

8533 is not off lease. It's waiting wheelsets. Ukraine is a major provider of raw materials to build wheelsets.

Is that an old entry on 5913? It's been in use throughout May and June.

There will be a diversion from the Alton line in place for a number of hours (fast from Ash Vale to Ascot, then Virginia Water, Staines and Putney) with bustitution between Farnborough and Aldershot for mainline passengers. These services will run as 1Nxx.

I apologise for my errors. I thought from post #775 that 8533 was off-lease, but clearly it isn't. I hadn't picked up 5913 working anything in May or June until yesterday, I need to pay closer attention.

Thank you for these corrections.

Edit - just double checked, and my references to 5913 should have read 5909. All due to incompetence on my part.

That all sounds very over complicated, plus I'm sure the commuters on that line won’t be impressed at the extended journey or the drunken race goers. Surprised they haven’t ran the weybridges down to ascot and put a shuttle service on Virginia water - Weybridge, I think they might’ve done this for some event at Windsor recently.
