Just been on 444020 and contrary to reports, no cycle spaces have been removed.

Thanks very much, sadly it doesn't quite work!

Has anyone seen the fully "refurbished" 450 yet? Has it had it's FC split and moved to the ends as proposed or has it remained the same - things appear to have gone a little quiet on that one.

Not strictly refurbishment, but most if not all 458s have had their 1st Class declassified ahead of the timetable change.

They go to the trouble of changing all the seat-top grab handles from orange to blue
They must be disposing of a large number of those orange grab handles, which look like solid plastic. Recycled, or landfill, I wonder? Either way it seems excessive just for a colour change...

Maybe they consider those signs to be sufficiently neutral in design to retain. SWT did it with the former 460s.
I thought things like the toilet signs, eg the “direction to” signs along the train on 450s, were common features to all Desiro Uk variants?

Hello, does anyone know when the new SWR Class 442 Wessex Electrics will be used?

There’s a dedicated thread with loads of details, although it’s a long read. Latest information is that 3x10 car sets will enter service in December, they’re expected to work up from Bournemouth early doors, do a few trips up and down the Portsmouth Direct, then late night services to Poole.

I don't think it is a Siemens signage but rather jointly designed with SWT in their old corporate font - Futura Book - and Siemens then just used it on the rest of the Desiro UK fleet probably for ease.

Yes, that is what it is. A bit like, as I said above, DB style white-on-blue signage appears to be used on all German rolling stock, even that not operated by DB.

So there’d still be no expectation of the current refurbishment to require replacement...

Notice at Ascot regarding removal of First Class:

Just been on 444020. The 4 seats with no window looks quite funny.

I don't mind the rest of the refurb of this one, probably due to not having power sockets jabbed in by shin bones.

My first time on 444040.
I saw this poster. SWR and SWT brands on the same one!

Swaying too much to get a good image

Got a better image.

It's certainly in service and there are some photos of the new 1st Class area on Facebook. It looks quite smart. The layout is the same as on the 360s, but with a pair of very generous tables, complete with inductive charging.
