But how long is it since the last SWT interior refurb, the ROSCO isn’t going to do everything every time...

Apart from re painting of the walls, the desiros have not had a full interior refurbishment since entering service as like the LNR desiros. This was the first company changeover since entering service. 450s and 444s have never had any different seats cover designs or new carpets or anything of the sort until SWRs refurb programme and even then it was not a ‘complete’ refurbishment.
The Desiros did not get any wall panels repainted, and the toilets were untouched basically too. Wouldn't be surprised if the 159s didn't get that work.
No point. The both wall colours match colours in the branding. It would be a waste of time anyway to change something that is more than okay the way it is. I get where your coming from though.

yeah, which means if this continues at it's current rate by the time they're all finished, they'll only be a year to go until the end of the franchise, and that's if SWR isn't nationalised or goes bankrupt which is looking possible at this point.
IIRC South Western Railway is meant to be a permanent brand that will be passed on to the next franchisee.

The logo, incidentally, is not very original.

The SWR name likely will be carried forward to the next franchise (if not First MTR) or in DfT/OLR hands, whatever happens.

But will the blue & grey theme be retained if this belongs to First MTR that the next franchise may not be permitted to use?
There is talk of Northern slightly tweaking its branding as it belongs to former operator Arriva.

Like the "South West Trains" wording owned by the DfT, but the orange/red/blue theme obviously was Stagecoach's corporate style. If the SWT name was retained by First MTR then we would be seeing the light blue square next to "South West Trains" in black lettering and the awkward acronym of SWT with the T stacked below SW.

If Stagecoach retained SWT from 2017, then it still would become SWR as Grayling insisted (as with LNR, WMR, LNER and EMR) with the Stagecoach colours retained with minor change of wording from SWT to SWR in capital letters. The same probably would happen with EMT if they retain it and obliged to rename to EMR.

If the blue & grey SWR theme is owned by DfT then this will be used permanently long term no matter who runs SWR, like ScotRail.

I believe with East Midlands it was mandatory to use the EMR name and a neutral livery, so the EMT livery would have disappeared even if Stagecoach had retained the franchise.

Hi there, 444019 has been in Bournemouth for a few days now but painting work officially started yesterday when 444011 was released.

Hope that helps!

Hi Dan15812,

Thanks for your help and prompt reply, do you know if they plan to do another 444 or 450 while 444019 is being painted ?

As far as i'm awere the painting schedule is runing at a slower rate due to reduced staffing levels. I thinks its hard for the painters to stand two meaters apart from each outher.

At the moment it looks like the focus is on the 444's but when things return to normal they will probably have a 444 and 450 on site at the same time. Watch this space!

Hi there,
Haven't heard anything yet but hopefully something will happen in the next couple of days.
As it stands 444019 is still the only unit currently being done.
Will let you know as soon as I have news!

Does anyone know when the new PIS info screens will be fitted to the 444/450?

All I know is what is in the franchise agreement, which says they're due by the end of 2020. I’m sure they were always separate to everything else being done to the Desiros. Of course recent events may well have changed that...

I presume they will be similar to the PIS screens being added to the 350s?

is SWR keeping the current dot matrix display system?

444019 has been out shopped in SWR livery with a pride rainbow in a similar place to where the previous flag was.

Probably because whoever designed it misses stagecoach and those who signed it off didn't see the comparison.
