Can we discuss SWR station repaints progress please

Dean is currently being repainted. Interesting to see if Romsey and Woolston will retain their unique green colour scheme. I think Alton and Lymington line stations are green too ?

Fratton Eastleigh and Havant are all done but look a mess with the cheap taped blue bands ripped off in multiple areas

Rowlands Castle , Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth and Southsea , most stations fareham to St Denys are done.

St Denys is currently undergoing major roofing repairs

Basingstoke I understand is done

Portsmouth and Southsea retains a canapy supporting post in SWT livery by the blocks (to avoid a block presumably) and a lighting post at the London end again trackside

Thanks for stating the thread!
Romsey is in GWR colours whereas Alton and Lymington are in SWT heritage, I recon Romsey will get SWR Gray colour scheme and the other SWR green stations will retain their Green.
I do hope Eastleigh, Havant, Fratton and even Fareham get re-done, all are in a terrible mess. The newly painted are much better!

Romsey is a weird one. It's not GWR green as it's been in green since Wales and West days ? But before that it was in network southeast colours ?

Never knew that, thanks for informing me!

I always assumed it was GWR branded as Westbury looks pretty much the same. Interesting to note, I've seen a lot of GWR stations with yellow tape around the lampposts which is rather odd!

The yellow tape is to identify which balance spring to use for lowering the posts for maintenance

Ash, Ash Vale, Frimley, Camberley and Bagshot all recently done (Camberey was earlier and is missing tape in various places)

Sadly they've left it rather too late in the year for station repaints!
Should have been done mouths ago wiliest the weather was better.

Meant to add Portchester and Millbrook are recently done
Understand tape is being swapped for paint.

The tape is awful and looks like it is self peeling so perhaps not purely down to vandals

Has the canopy over the high-level platforms been repainted? Last time I was there, it was still in what looked like NSE red, and it didn't look as though the glazing had been cleaned since NSE days either, it was filthy.

The canopy at Portsmouth and Southsea hasn’t been touched in years. If you look at the up side platform near the lift there’s a bit of thread dangling which has been flapping around for years and made a clean patch in the diesel soot.

I think it would be far too high to be the TOCs responsibility. There’s a certain height beyond which normal TOC paint schemes don’t ever get applied. I think that’s why they usually concentrate on doors, windows, canopy support pillars etc.

I wonder why that explanation doesn’t seem to apply everywhere, as far as I can see the same type of posts are fitted as standard, but not you dont always see colour coded bands.

As swt-passenger says above, it's not down to the TOC. Footbridges & canopies are a Network Rail responsibility because they often require an occupation for them to be repainted. You'd hope for some sort co-ordination between the TOC & Network Rail so that improvement of one part of the station is not let down by the other......

At Hampton Court, the fencing adjacent to Hampton Court Way car park is being repainted as I type.

Oxshott has been part done. In the car park, the bottom half of lampposts have been painted, along with only one blue band on Platform 1 posts (painted, not stuck on).

Is it just a white and blue paint scheme, I noticed a year ago some SWR stations are grey and white like Greater Anglia so I thought they went with that.

SWT painted grey over the blue parts as part of neutralizing the brand at a time when standard station colour schemes were talked about with the odd burgundy (?) trial scheme on doors etc see Redbridge or Weybridge

How come New Milton was painted stagecoach blue and orange just mouths before start of the franchise, and not the grey/white SWT generic?

Signage the same. Pictures on the train refurb thread before this thread started. Grey and white with blue bands. Blue bands match the signage blue.

Cobham & Stoke d’Abernon has started to be painted. Platform 1 has had lampposts and other uprights “greyed”.

Yes, when new, most of the structure appeared to undergo heavy cleaning on a fairly regular basis & looked reasonably smart for quite a while, but as you say for whatever reason that doesn’t seem to have happened for years now, so it doesn’t look great
