And now for some light relief from the Independent....
train bosses apologies after pornography is broadcast over the PA system:

Railway bosses have apologised after passengers found themselves listening into pornography being played over a train's public address system.

The blue broadcast – on an 11.30am service from Wandsworth Town to Clapham Junction – is thought to have occurred after a staff member accessed the adult material while a microphone was still live.

I wonder how they'll investigate this? I imagine it will be quite a hard case to prove. Both the driver and guard could blame each other (or more likely both could claim nothing to do with them and it would be difficult for SWR to prove that there wasn't another staff member travelling in the back cab)

This reminds me of a blunder on Swedish state TV back in 2006, when workers changed one of the monitors that appeared in news bulletins to watch a sports event on Canal Plus. They did not realise that Canal Plus (at the time) showed adult content after midnight.

Usually, the monitor shows the output of other news channels - but the workers had changed it to watch a sports event on cable channel Canal Plus.

However, they did not remember to change the channel back - which, because Canal Plus shows adult content after midnight, resulted in the error.

A producer quickly spotted the sex scenes and ran into the control room and turned off the monitor, news director Mr Yng said.

"One monitor in the background, behind the newsreader, was showing some porn scenes," he said.

"It lasted no more than 30 seconds - only during the first item on the midnight news on Saturday."

Or it could have been yoofs operating the PA system, which is commonplace in some areas?

There was an incident on Jazz FM a few years ago, in which someone watched "adult content" with their laptop still linked to the sound fader. They left pretty swiftly after.

I imagine most passengers were just glad it wasn't the usual "See it, say it, sorted" announcement!

Knowing some of the criticism that SWR have faced about their service delivery; perhaps this was another that didn't go all the way and failed to satisfy the customer...sorry passengers.
