Cheers for the timings, although let us know if anything interesting is due to run on it (apart from 47841), might go to Soton again one day to phot it then.

Could'nt agree with you more on that one TBH though i'd go out for it as it will probably revert to 66's soon enough. Dagenham drivers apparently 'Looking forward' to this job!

Thank you for your email of 02 January 2006.

During the C6 overhauls shortly to commence on the Class 442
electric multiple units at Ilford the First Class compartments
will remain. The work that will take place will be full mechanical
overhaul and external repaint; internally damaged seat covers and
full deep clean will take place. The first unit is due to leave
Bournemouth depot on Wednesday and the units will be away one at a
time.

Thank you for contacting South West Trains with your enquiry on
this matter.

Kind Regards
Simon Brown
Customer Relations Officer

Not necessarily. Their 73s and Bubble are also Desiro blue, I think it's more of a generic livery. They can be found on London-Portsmouth, Reading or London - Hounslow services etc. In other words, they share services with 444s , 455s or 458s! The colour doesn't mean anything specific.

It does.

455's are being repainted in to Orange, which DOES indicate they are inner London.

450's are painted (or stickered  ) in a DARK blue to indicate they are Outer Surbuban.

444's have a lot pof white, this is the Express coulor scheme

I was reading in some thing my dad had (he works for SWT) that the 455 colour is the inner suburban the 450 colour is the outer suburban and the white with the blue round the window is express. with the exception of the 458 as they are in the express livery. Also the 73s and 121

They have a BIT of Orange

The 455s are known as the desiro negatives because the red and the blue are the other way round. The orange is the same place. It must have taken some one years to think of that livery its that simple and sa SWT can't really run a train service they just make there trains look pretty!!

I wouldn't have thought that London-Portsmouth or Hounslow for that matter were outer suburban locations.

Oh, FFS :x

To try to stop you lot bantering:

The 3 liveries are:

White: For Long Distnace 'Express' services

Blue: For outer suburban and 'stopping' services

Red: For inner suburban/'metro' lines etc.

Obviously someitmes certain units cover each other eg. a 450 on a 444 Diagram.

The 170s/158s and thr 458s are an exception to this rule, as they where 'painted' prior to the SWT decididing to change liveries.

OK!!

What do the 170s/158s count as then?

You kinda quoted the answer to that!

The 170s/158s do a mixture of stuff, Totton-Romseys etc, while the 159s tend to do Waterloo-Exeter services (and some cornwall services, though I don't know all of them), often with a 170 or 158 tacked on the back.

All I'll contribute here is that Reading - Brighton runs more often use a 450 than a 159. I should know, I've been on a good few of them! It was nice to do a 450 actually to Barnham from Fareham after a rather delayed run on a WSX 158. The air-con made it nice and chilled, plus it was my first ride on a 450, so that made it more fun. Which one it was on that occasion I wish I knew, I didn't record that at the time.

Most interesting of all was back in December 2003 when we had a slammer on it, which we took from Basingstoke to Barnham. My mum was glad to get off that 'boneshaker'!
