syon lane to rayleigh good friday

I know there is work going on out of liverpool street to romford this friday, but wonder what is the best way to do this trip.

I'd rather not go via southend if at all possible - are there any tubes or stations i could change at that are close/easy connections to romford?

Would the ticket price be more if i went via southend?

The journey planner shows the same fare via Southend

The recommended route is Central line to Newbury Park and special bus thence to Shenfield to pick up the train

There's precisely one minute difference in the journey time.
