Tanking at Norwich

I notice that the london trains are tanked there during turn around.

There are also tapes and hoses below the platform which can not be used on present trains.Were trains so far from the platform that taps below patform level and trackside could be used?

EMT 158s certainly get tanked there, the hoses are very short so the stopping position needs to be exact for tanking.
