After recently starting a mechanical engineer technician apprenticeship I’ve heard many stories of people who have moved from my company straight into TFL and are earning around 50k . my company is nothing to do with railways although many of the skills developed while working here can be used in almost any othe discipline due to the wide range of tasks we do.
I know for NR to get a job with no rail experience you go for the operative roles , what is th equivalent of this for TFL ?
or due to the experience they got from this job we’re they able To move directly into a Technician role ?
im interested in this as it is something I may consider in the future .

I know that the train maintainer job came up twice in two years. That requires no experience but does look for some mechanical knowledge. And it's 40-50k
