Weekly capping does not apply with Oyster cards. Only contactless payment cards. However, you cannot have a Railcard discount on a contactless payment card.

    Hello everyone
I'm just wondering what everybody thinks of the recent 2015 price rise. personally I think it is one of the worst decisions TFL have made.
Apology's if this has already been discussed

I live in zone 3 and find it a great improvement as the daily cap has gone down.

I live in zone 6 and find it's had quite a negative impact on me personally. I went all the way in to zone 1 and back by bus today as I'm fed up with ever-increasing fares to use the train and tube. :(

I work in Zone 5/6 ticket offices on the weekend and the off peak price rises have been a shocker. There's no escaping it, not even with Oyster. Even just a return to the West End using one train and tube each way costs £10.40 on Oyster. A few regular families have left the station in disgust after their day out travel increased from £25 to £36.

Still, public acceptance of such gargantuan price hikes remains high. I'm a part timer who commutes from Zone 1-6 (always off peak) and the changes have only increased my travel costs.

It is not as if they have a choice. TfL knew that, and their contempt for people who lost out shows it, year after year.

I mentioned it previously that they didn't even have the decency to admit that some people would be losing out badly, preferring to focus on spin fixated with how some people travelling in the peak would benefit.

This is something that the people of Uxbridge should remember when they're choosing their MP in May. I doubt that they will though.

Meanwhile at my local station, the prices haven't really changed, 20p or so in Oyster singles and Travelcards and off-peak paper singles are the same! People who used to buy Boundary Zone returns and an inboundary travelcard are shocked the trick doesn't work anymore though!

I have to say as a public sector organisation I somewhat doubt their motives. TfGM are a bit crap - let's face it. They don't have the resources nor expertise to run the service we deserve and they frequently bugger it up / leave serious problems untouched in the long-term. But I've always gotten the feeling they are still trying to do what's right... rather than TfL who just want to make themselves (and their bloody Mayor!) look good. If the only way they can do that is by having you eat their sh*t and call it caviar then great.

There's a lot of people at TfL trying very hard to improve services. This looks like something handed down from the Mayor that people had to make work. These are not unusual.

Indeed. Looking very forward to having more space inefficient, belching New Routemasters on the roads - with no on board CSA to even justify the design!

One change that passed me by was the Two Together railcard now offering a discount on inboundary Travelcards.

I had a customer request this ticket yesterday. I told her it wasn't valid with Travelcards from the station I was working at, but she said it definitely was. So I input it into the machine and to my surprise, the discount appeared. I got the railcard website up and indeed, it was a legitimate transaction. I apologised for getting it wrong and sold the ticket.

I do hope that Boris has not selected a constituency in zone 4-6 to contest for MP as the ladies don't/won't like getting a hole cut in the bottom of their purse.
