Sod's Law said it'd be the one on the Canada side of the falls...
The Canadian side's station is rather nicely opposite a bridge which crosses the falls, and thus, allows us to walk into the United States.
However, just as we flash our passport to the guard, we see a Greyhound coach: destination New York. Knowing that it isn't due to depart until 10:59, we can slowly amble back to the station and board that instead. After about two hours on the coach, the thought dawns on us that we can reach New York before the bus if we catch a flight... which is what we do, and thus at 13:25 on Saturday, we're dropped off outside Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Ah; New York be dashed. We wants us some deep dish and Italian beef!
"If you had access to an airport departures board like this; would you go to New York right away?
Neither would I"

We board American Eagle Flight AA2981 at 15:05; arriving at Chicago's O'Hare airport at 16:04 this Saturday afternoon

Let’s head downtown and take the Chicago Transport Authority Blue Line 1648 Metro service to Jackson arriving at 1731 on Saturday afternoon.

Not far to Lake Michigan, various parks, start of Route 66, Union station. Sure there’s lots of Italian joints too!

However, whilst in the area, we cannot pass up a chance to take a ride on the South Shore Line, one of the last interurban railways left in the US. We travel all the way through to the far terminus at South Bend Airport, departing Chicago at 1825 and arriving at 2153 Saturday night.

Can’t find any flights, so we take train 510 at 2216, arriving at Gary/Chicago Airport (also known as Clark Rd) at 2247 on Saturday night.

Perhaps we could fly somewhere from there or go back into Chicago?

Just realised we cross a time zone, explaining apparent disparities in journey times.

EDIT: there aren’t any commercial flights and it’s a mile from the station anyway.

We've languished here for two and a half weeks - let's get going again... but as that was the last train of the night, we'll go in the morning.

At 0609, the South Shore line service shows up again and we duly board it. We alight at 55th - 56th - 57th St, the time now being 0649 on Sunday morning.

Let's grab some breakfast, and head off to the airport. Rather appropriately, our 55 bus turns up at 0737, and we are promptly whisked away to 55th Street & Kilpatrick, arriving just as a departing Airbus screams overhead. The time is now 0804 on Sunday morning.

This is Chicago Midway Airport (MDW), rather than O’Hare.

We take Southwest flight WN3631 at 0855 to New Orleans Louis Armstrong Airport (MSY) on a Boeing 737, arriving at 1115 on Sunday morning.

I feel a trip to Asia coming on...
...however, we can't directly from New Orleans. But we can from New York, and rather coincidentally, there's a flight there in about an hour.
JetBlue flight 76? departs at 12:04 and arrives at New York - JFK for 15:52 Sunday afternoon.

Asia? Why go there when we can go to IRELAND?

We board the Aer Lingus flight with an unknown number to Dublin Airport (DUB), arriving there at 05:00 (+1) on Monday morning.

Let's continue onto the continent

After an hour of planespotting, we continue around and onto the continent. At 0650, Ryanair flight 3100 rocks up and we duly board the flight. We overfly the UK, possibly passing over our UK travelling alter ego, before arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport | EHAM at 0935 Monday morning.

Let's take in the VAL metro here in Lille...

After alighting from our train, we run down to the metro platforms below the station. Unfortunately, we've just missed one, but not to panic - the trains run thirty times an hour down here. So at 14:57, we board the Line 1 train headed for 4 Cantons. We alight five stops down the line at Pont de Bois, the time being 15:06 on Monday afternoon.

Looks amazing!

Let’s get more of it! We travel back on the yellow line M1 leaving at 1511 from Pont De Bois to Lille CHU Centre Oscar Lambret arriving at 1527 on Monday afternoon.

Interchange with TER line nearby if needed.

Let's go and sample the buses.

We resurface from the metro and we dive into a nearby coffee shop. We make sure to be out at 1544, so as to make our no. 10 bus. We alight at La Carnoy (Lambersart), at 1614 on Monday afternoon.

As above

We continue on another no 10 bus, operated by Transpole, departing 1623 and arriving back at Gare de Lille Flandres at 1651 on Monday afternoon.

If anyone is going to continue within Lille, this site is much easier on a laptop than a phone. Many 'merde alors!' have been uttered!

I guess you could say this game is in Rouens...

Naff puns aside, we move onward and wait for the 1603 Intercités service to Gare du Havre, arriving into the station at 1655 Tuesday evening.

NB: If we run, we might just make the boat back to Pompey

If we ran, we could have just done it, but the rules specify a 30 minute connection for ferries.

We take the 1802 Intercites 3130 train to Paris St Lazaire arriving at 2011 on Tuesday evening.

Really would have liked to go elsewhere, but Fecamp looked a dead end, we’ve just been to Rouen and the train is non-stop after that. At least we have options in Paris.

We walk five minutes to Paris Gare Montparnasse then take the 2055 Direct 1 service, operated by Le Bus Direct, arriving at Paris Orly Airport at 2120 on Tuesday evening.

Think we should get a flight somewhere given the 30 minute connection time.
