Clue 5 : from the platforms of this station you can see a completely different line emerge from a tunnel, cross over the line that runs through this station and disappear into another tunnel

2. The station is served by 2 TOCs (no others pass through)
3. The station has direct services to Middlesbrough, Darlington and Manchester Piccadilly

There was only one station that could possibly match the three clues. The whole idea of this "quiz" is that you should gradually eliminate stations. After 3 clues I would expect there to be in the range of 20-50 possible stations left.

I'm not going to be available at all tomorrow, so Open Floor. [ Will post something Thursday if nobody steps in ]

Given that there had been a 3 day gap in guesses, I gave more specific clues more quickly.

Can you have direct services to a country you are already in? Surely England and Wales would be direct services to two countries from Scotland?

Or is it just me who was thrown by this clue and took it this way?

How else would I describe a Glasgow to Oban train?

I honestly didn't think that that clue would be that controversial.
