GENERAL INFORMATION

RED SECTION UPDATE

The final stage of the Liverpool Lime Street modernisation scheme will result in a complex series of closures and part-closures from 2nd June to 29th July.

The closure comes in three distinct phases as far as train services are concerned (similar to the Mersey Tunnel engineering works last year.) It is probably simplest if I break it down into smaller chunks, and update when appropriate.


From 02/06/18 to 10/06/18:

  • No trains will run between Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool South Parkway via Mossley Hill and West Allerton
  • No trains will run between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton
  • No TransPennine Express trains will operate between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria

Merseyrail services through Liverpool Lime Street are unaffected by the closure of the mainline station.

So main routes in and out of Liverpool are
  • Wirral routes
  • Northern route via Hunt's Cross and Brunswick
  • Northern routes via Kirkby, Ormskirk and Southport
