Received a letter from Pathfinder tours this morning re the Tyne Tees Commemorative that was to be operated by 55009.

"The Deltic Preservation Society have said that following the issues with 55009 on Saturday 19th August, the DPS engineering team have made the decision to temporarily withdraw the loco from traffic until further investigations are carried out to see if any further damage has occurred. This is despite the fact the known fault was fixed on the day.
This was not an easy decision to make but was unanimous amongst the engineering team at a team meeting on 22 Aug 23. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause to you and your customers."

Following the DPS announcement Pathfinder have cancelled the excursion and are processing refunds.

Disappointed as really wanted to cruise the ECML from York up to Newcastle behind 009, fortunately managed to get some mileage behind her on the 29 Jul on the Capital Deltic reprise and on the ill fated trip on the 19th August which was going se well until we got back to York.

Does seems a slightly disaster prone locomotive does 55009! I was on the memorable tour which was supposed to be hauled by 55009 back from Edinburgh to Doncaster (Tornado had been in charge of the outward Doncaster to Edinburgh journey) but where a massive flashover (I think?) occurred around Drem and the tour eventually terminated at Berwick with passenger being carried forward by VTEC. Worked out well for me in some respects ironically as the tour hadn't been planned to call at Darlington where I wanted to alight but, of course, VTEC did
