How cold was the train when it got back? Nice not to have a duff idling away on the back spoiling things (I was sitting in the back coach on the return journey), but as I was getting out at York, the lack of heat hadn't become a big problem by that stage. What about the poor buggers in the aircons? Cold and stuffy! The Spitfire guy told me there was supposed to be a replacement duff at York, but obviously not.

I've had colder trains, but it wasn't exactly tropical on the train. opened the windows in the tunnels, much to the dismay of fellow travellers, but the hot exhaust helped push a litte heat in through the windows. 47798 was suggested as heat but i was told it failed to start (no surprise there) and the NRM guts gave up on it. WCRC were unhappy at asking a thrid party for heat so we chilled all the way back. glad i got off at whitchurch

What about all the First Class Dining people, stuck in the dark in aircons? Won't they all be clamouring to Spitfire for their money back? You can't expect normals to put up with being stuck in a freezing, stuffy, pitch black coffin for hours, and just shrug it off because there happens to be a pair of tractors up front!
