On Monday I managed a ride No. 1 Thomas loco (usually based at the Mid-Hants railway). It got some suprised looks from cars passing by. But the main point of my question is what was the locomotives original number before it was converted.

This lived out all my childhood dreams. shame no Annie and Clarabelle.

Wikipedia says the following:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_stock_of_the_Watercress_Line
Originally built by Hunslet as Austerity-type 0-6-0ST saddle tank 3781 of 1952, later named Linda on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Converted to a side-tank locomotive in order to create a replica LB&SCR E2 class No. 1 "Thomas" in 1994.
It was one of a batch of six Hunslet austerities built for the NCB in 1952, and worked at Maesteg deep drift mine in the late sixties.
