I've been messing round on google maps, I was originally meant to be finding a route for a journey but got distracted as you do.

But I found a cool aerial shot of what looks like a HST.

Either FGW or XC not sure which

I want to see if we can make a long term game out of this now.

Find the most impressive aerial shot of a train using only google maps or bing maps.

To share the link -

GOOGLE MAPS
Click the 'Link' button in the upper right of the map

BING MAPS
Click the flying letter in the bottom left.

I just thought this would be a fun thing to do over time :D

That is a FGW HST - I can tell by the Swerves on the edge of the power car:

LOOK

or visit

They are just visible from that angle.

The Edinburgh Binliner isn't at Leith, but you can see the little cable operated wagon they use to move the wagons for taking the containers off and putting them on again.

That's enough for just now

There is (or used to be) a defect where a major motorway didn't join up correctly so the carrigeways were out of line and looked like all the vehicles were going for a major head on collision.

There is also one of a warehouse... yet if you move to look at the other half of the warehouse, it hasn't been built yet :lol:

There was a motorway which got cut where the images were of a different age, and on one side it was finished with cars on it, on the other, it was still being built.

I'm not sure how to link it but if you search for "Cow Lane, Grove", you will find an FGW HST just about to pass through the old Wantage Road station. There are also several freight services further west.

It is a class 121, that was stabled there for emergency evacuation of the severn tunnel.

To me that looks like a double car unit and not a 121 (could be two 121s together though I admit). Also why would it be on what looks to be a mainline, thought it was always in a siding?

I'll have a look at it in the morning, 3am isn't the best time to be looking on Google maps!
